Hotel's Favourite
My wife and I ended up staying on Lanai when we needed to move from Maui/ Lahaina when the wild fires burned down the hotel we were supposed to stay at. Our plan was to ferry over to Lanai, but instead, we flew in and stayed two days. This hotel is excellent and very mellow and low key. It is not trying to be the Four Seasons, so do not expect that. The rooms are a bit small by modern standards, but that is because you are in a historic building that was for the Dole executives to stay in when this was a pineapple plantation. Considering the building has been around from the 1920s or so, it is wonderfully modern. It is very comfortable and friendly. Staff was great. Only two nitpicks - bed was very soft and comfortable but you sink in a bit too much and end up in a rut. i think the memory foam mattress needed to be rotated, kind of like your tires. It is great that you can walk all of Lanai City from here and we did so repeatedly. We also ended up getting a car (not a 4WD) and checked out beaches and the cat sanctuary. This is truly old school Hawaii that is mellow and meant to take your blood pressure down. If you cannot handle that, it is on you, not the hotel. I would love to stay here again.

Cutest little hotel. Very accommodating. Nicole, especially! She saved us by giving us a lift to the cat sanctuary after none of the cab companies were answering. The attached bar/restaurant is also fantastic.

Stayed four days, which was a tad too long. I am glad that I came to Lanai. The highlight was a tour with just me and an esteemed local resident , Alberta de Jetkey. She was superb. As for the hotel, it is kind of unusual and is minimally staffed. It is certainly far cheaper than the Four Seasons Resorts, but not inexprnsive either, at $330 per night. This is an historic building and I realize there are limitations, but the room is quite small, with no chair or desk. The decor is rather cool modern and there are a bunch of geewhiz electronics, which I was starting to figure out by the end of the stay. The toilet does everything but carry on a chat with you. The continental breakfast Serves a purpose, but is very basic. The word is out that the hotel is going to close this year, at least on a temporary basis, to house construction supervisors for the owner of most of the island, Larry Ellison. That is too bad.

Cute little hotel in Lāna'i City! From the outside you wouldn't think much of it, but the rooms are nicely renovated and feel very spa like. Lights, temperature and shades are controlled using electronic panels in the room and the toilet was a Toto! Bed was super comfy. Staff was friendly and check in was easy. It's right by the town square and in very short walking distance of the island's stores and restaurants. While not inexpensive it's the island's "budget" alternative to the four seasons. Grounds are meticulously maintained and rooms are very clean. Why I didn't give this property 5 stars - they need to do better work with sound reduction. The first night the restaurant was closed so I didn't expect noise. I could hear the neighbors talking in their room, when they passed in the hall and it wasn't muffled. You could literally hear word for word. I had to turn my tv on just to muffle what they were watching. The second night the restaurant was open and it was SO LOUD. It sounded like there was a band playing in my bathroom. After the band stopped, there were some noisy patrons that took a while to clear out. Fortunately with corona restrictions the restaurant couldn't stay open super late so we were able to get to bed at a reasonable hour. It just made it hard to enjoy the room which you'd want to do because there isn't much going on at night. Ask for the rooms furthest from the restaurant and you'll fare a little better on the noise. Also, the continental breakfast was far too basic for the price point of this hotel.

My family had 2 adjoining rooms. The door handle between the rooms broke off early in our stay. When maintenance came to fix it, my husband was resting, so I asked him to come back later, and suggested a time. He asked if we had dinner reservations, yet, and when I said we didn't, he invited us to attend at their restaurant - and he would make the arrangements. So we went to dinner at the arranged time. After an hour, they were still not done with our room - so we weren't able to relax in our own accommodations. No worries, since we thought they were being gracious to us in their dining room! We were then surprised to be given the bill...NOTHING was comped! I brought up my confusion to staff - they gave me the card to the manager. Whom I have contacted twice with no reply. So, based on the other reviews, it seems like all is well with the hotel...until it isn't. Then you are ignored!

This is a small but luxurious hotel, right in the centre of the island's 'city', overlooking Dole Park & easily walkable to the small selection of local cafes & restaurants. Do not be fooled by the quaint plantation house exterior - the rooms are remarkably modern, with tech-controlled lighting/ window blinds & of course the famous 'toto' toilets! The evening meals here are fabulous, although we all found the breakfast buffet slightly disappointing. Be warned that if you choose the rooms on the front with a lanai - surely essential? - then you will be sharing your balcony space with the room next door. This wasn't a problem for us, as we were travailing with my parents ;-) Whilst staying on Lanai, my husband was very unwell & the staff in the hotel, as well as at the pharmacy & hospital could not have been kinder.

If you want a local hospitality, GREAT service and the most modern amenities, Hotel Lanai is the place! They only have 10 rooms and a cottage so book ahead if you want to stay at this place. We’ve traveled the world and stayed at 5 star hotels and Hotel Lanai beats many of the places we’ve stayed and a fraction of the price! It is also the most convenient location in the island - next door to the heritage cultural center, across the street from the beautiful Dole park, local shops, mini market and local restaurants. If you need help with anything else, Eva and Sara at the front desk are so helpful - they’re local they know everything. After a fabulous week on Maui and and a busy week ion Oahu, the best part of this vacation was the Lanai! Truly amazing Aloha hospitality and Da BEST Hotel Lanai! Definitely going back!!

We spent 5 nights at the Hotel Lanai in late September 2019. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit in every way. The front desk staff, Sara and Eve were great. Most of our meals were at the hotel with a great breakfast. The building was classic plantation look with beautiful grounds. The room interiors were contemporary in style, with an overdoes of tech to control shades, lights and a/c. We did have a few complaints. The overuse of tech to control lighting. The bedside lamps were useless for quiet reading. The doors were heavy and slammed shut, knocking you around. For a 5 night stay there was not enough dresser/closet space. Overall a great find and visit.

We stayed mid-July during a vacation to Molokai, Lanai, and Oahu celebrating my birthday. We knew from previous reviews to expect a small sized room, and it was, but at the same time, the Lanai room option is modern, clean, and includes Toto toilets. The only negative we encountered is the property website room description states “relax on your own private lanai (porch) and take in the views” but the porch is not private and shared with the room across the hall. Our second room door opened to the right side of the porch and the room across the hall has a door that opens to the left side of the same porch. While we were only staying two nights and enjoyed sitting in the porch rocking chairs, it wasn’t what we expected and the web site is misleading. Also, cannot expect the porch to be quiet and peaceful, as the restaurant is very busy at dinner time and into the night where there is constant noise from the parking lot and guests coming and going. The breakfast was better than expected offering a full breakfast buffet including hot items. All of the staff on the property were friendly and helpful. We appreciated the bottled water placed in our room refrigerator. The property is beautifully landscaped and in walkable distance to the park, city (only a few blocks), and grocery store. Overall, we’d recommend Hotel Lanai to others.

Very nicely renovated. The rooms, while on the small side, are well done. It's location in Lanai City made it very convenient to wander around. When they say "continental breakfast" included, this is underselling. The provided daily breakfast was much more than that.
