The Mana Kai Maui (Spirit by the Sea and Maui) is a sparkling jewel that places you right where you want to be — and steps from the soft sands of Keawakapu (Forbidden Cove) Beach. Both the Mana Kai Maui and Keawakapu Beach are located at the far southern end of South Kihei Road, bordering the entrance to Wailea. The mile-long-beach is a popular swimming, snorkeling and the perfect location to relax and enjoy the beauty of Maui. Here you are offered the convenience of having all of your needs met at our beachfront property, or venturing out to Wailea (less than 5 minutes away). Just north of the Mana Kai are the bustling activities of Kihei, popular restaurants, shops, and activities, (which we can happily arrange for you) from seeing waterfalls to whales (seasonal).

The Mana Kai Maui ‘ohana (family) strive to preserve the “Aloha Spirit.” Our guests have been returning for many years. Some even returning since the year we opened in 1973. Generations of visitors return annually and are greeted with aloha by their names. Just as our visitors return year after year, we have the good fortune of retaining a long-time staff with a handful of employees with 20+ years of service. It is this familiarity that embraces the soul and spirit of the Mana Kai Maui ~ where true Aloha lives.
The Mana Kai isn’t a “fancy” resort like those on Weilea but it’s close. We stayed in room 701 (can’t recall if it’s A or B ) - it had the balcony overlooking the pool and ocean. You can hear the sounds of the ocean at night and it was like a sound machine - but better. Every evening we saw the most picturesque sunset. Something we miss having on a daily basis. We were here during COVID (March 7-10, 2021), the resort was at 45% capacity - so it wasn’t crowded. I can see how it can get cramped at 100%. They have 2 elevators that were rather slow but we were on vacation and not in any rush 😉. Room was recently decorated and because of Covid room service was every 3 days - we only stayed 3 days, so not room service. Beach access was amazing, there was a small pool and they had a place to rent snorkel gear, SUP and kayaks downstairs, there was also a restaurant that had live music. Parking was free and I believe there was a resort fee. If you’re considering them and have champagne taste on a beer budget in Hawaii- this may be the way to go 😀Mahalo! …
I stayed in Mana Kai 202 again and found it to be fantastic. Hawaii in general is a great place to escape covid because everyone visiting there has to produce a negative test before arriving and the prevalence on the island is low, so it is probably the safest area to stay right now. This unit specifically is perfect because with a full kitchen you never really have to go out. Also, 202 is on the second floor; excellent for a view, but outside the door there is a staircase that you can go down one floor and a few steps yo are on the beach; you never have to go through the lobby or grounds if you don't want to. If you do, you need to wear a mask, but it is not necessary on the beach or most of the lawn. Just a fantastic location. Also, this room is at the West end of the building, much , much better than the East end where there is a fair amount of noise next to the public parking lot and dumpsters/delivery trucks. The unit itself is very clean and updated with super quiet fans. It has beach chairs and umbrellas in the closet; I hit the beach just on the side of the building (see photo) where there frequently was no one else and perfect for sunsets and whales. But don't forget, Keawakapu Beach in front of the building is considered to be one of the best beaches on Maui with a great snorkeling spot off to the right. As before, the store, rental shop, and restaurant on site were very handy. Many thanks to Condo Rentals Hawaii for their help in booking this condo for me again. One more thing: while most people seem to walk to the South toward Wailea to get their exercise, I more often take the shore trail to the North which has a lot of varied terrain and you can go to the North end of Kamaole Beach 1, about a 3 mile round trip. across the lawn of Kihei Surfside at the Northeast corner you can find the entrance to the trail.…
Just back from another great week, this time in unit 204. The owners have done a fabulous remodel, with great appliances as well as nice art/decor. the two patio tables (bar height) were great for hanging out, eating and watching the activity below. being on the second floor makes you visible, but also makes people watching great!
Located just north of Wailea, the Mana Kai is a gem. Beautiful rooms, well manicured property, and all two bedroom suites have ocean views! Excellent restaurant and convenience store on property. Gorgeous pool, and direct beach access. Top rated beach in south Maui, sunsets and snorkeling! Short distance to many shops and restaurants.
Most everything was lovely. The flatware in the rooms could be of better quality. The panel in the center of the condo was off of the track. I keep trying to click on "Submit your review" and it keeps bringing me back to "Your Review." What more do you want?
