Set amidst 27 acres of tropical gardens, fronting the best and most exclusive stretch of Kaanapali Beach, the Royal Lahaina Resort is a truly unique Hawaiian Resort. The resort’s natural beauty, traditional Hawaiian ambiance, and dedication to five-star service offers guests a timeless and subtle elegance providing for the ultimate in relaxation and tranquility. The resort’s original garden and oceanfront cottage accommodations evoke a quaint beachside experience reminiscent of Hawaii’s Plantation Era; while the 12-story Lahaina Kai Tower features luxurious island-inspired guestrooms and suites celebrating the artistry, environment and culture of Hawaii.
The resort features a restaurant and lounge, two oceanfront swimming pools, a beach activities center, fitness room, massage services, is adjacent to the two championship Kaanapali Golf Courses, and has been named among the top 100 tennis destinations in the world, with an 11-court Tennis Ranch.
Service and location are great. The property and rooms are very dated and that just negatively affects the experience. The rooms are dark (we had partial ocean view), the bathroom is very dark and cramped living space (2 dbl beds), the lanais is very small - only 2 people can fit and would not be very spacious to dine out there (certainly 4 couldn’t).
This was my very first time staying at the Royal Lahaina Resort on Maui and by far the most memorable vacation that I will never forget! I was immediately welcomed when I arrived in their beautiful lobby by their friendly staff who made me feel at home. The resort is just steps away from the beach where you can watch humpback whales and go for a swim. The resort offers activities the traditional Hiu Wai which is a Hawaiian Cleansing Ceremony at sunrise. This is a must-do! My room was very clean and the balcony views of the ocean were breathtaking. The thing that I most appreciated about this resort was that it made us feel like family! Every employee on property greeted us with a smile and warm hello or farewell. I highly recommend this amazing property. Will definitely be back.…
The location and view from our balcony was amazing. The staff was the best we have had at any other resort in all the countries we have visited. Incredible service! The resort is beautiful. No picture would do it justice. The free ukulele class was awesome. We learned 6 songs in 1 hour. Fantastic teacher!!! We bought ukuleles and play at home now. 😁 Don’t miss the hula dance class. Get the valet parking. It was worth every penny.
We have been here 4 times. The beach and hotel staff are top notch and make us feel at home. Ditto for tower rooms, clean and maintained well during our stay. So what changed? The spirit of Aloha has been replaced with the spirit of greed. Food and store prices are just obnoxious. An ice cream that costs $2 here on the mainland is $6.50. Prior to COVID the menu was decent. This might sound dumb, but I judge a chef on the chicken wings -- the wings were "pigeon" sized, over cooked, and odd ( 2 drumsticks and 8 winglets -- obviously not fresh) The only thing I liked was the seared Ahi.
I'm absolutly unsatisfied with Royal Lahaina as a whole!!! The staff are completely unfriendly!!! The hotel very old and needs reno ASAP!!! In addition, the rates are absolutely high compared to the quality of the hotel and what it offers to the guests.
Such a lovely property and enjoy the bungalow atmosphere. Chose this property since it was one of the originals so keep that in mind with the character of the place but the location and staff are great and there’s a beach trail that you can take for 1.5 miles north or south from the resort
We came to Maui to visit friends and for the Maui Basketball Invitational. We booked Royal Lahaina not knowing too much about it besides reviews and we were very pleased! We stayed in a renovated garden bungalow and it felt homey, was very quiet and had a nice lanai - Close distance to the two pools that were never overcrowded. The staff was very friendly and we had a great time at the bar at night. We will definitely stay again.
Loved my stay in Royal Lahaina Resort. This was my 2nd trip to Maui and I booked both the times here. The amenities, pools, hospitality of the staff - all were great. The beach is right across the resort, which is easily one of the best beaches in Maui.
Great place and BEAUTIFUL views from the pool. Very convenient location. The Ka’anapali Ocean Inn is the more “affordable” section of the property, so it’s a little order and less luxurious but great deal for the price.
This is the boiled chicken of hotels in Maui. No flavor. Not fancy. Did you eat? Sure. Are you full? Yeah I guess. Did you dine? No. I’ve stayed at a few hotels in Maui, this one being the least impressive. Bed was hard (perhaps even a boxspring!), TV was tiny (the views, I know, but when time change hits, a tv I can actually see would be nice). The food is expensive and just ok. There are no other super convenient options. Very much worth it to travel to town for food. (Star Noodle 10/10) We ate breakfast a little north of the hotel at Castaway Cafe. That was better! The hotel staff was funny and friendly. The patrons are nice. But really the most meh experience I’ve ever had. I’ve stayed at a nicer Holiday Inn. I stayed in the bungalows and some people had updated rooms that seemed way nicer than ours. The whole thing was just so underwhelming. The actual hotel campus has so much potential! Ah well. Oh! Fun luau (food is very bad). Our server at the luau was a delight. We came for a wedding so we had a good time with family and friends, but do not recommend for vacation that you likely saved vacation days and dollars for. …
