We felt like we sank back into another time at Hale Ho'okipa! I can't even begin to describe the care and time spent on detail in this historic B&B. There are just layers and layers of history and the romance of old Hawaii here. Cherie is a "renaissance woman" and you can feel what she has put into it here.... More

Cherie is a gracious host. She lets guests put food in the kitchen fridges. The house is super charming, dating 1924. The rooms are quaint and lovely, with an air cooler that works wonderfully well. Breakfast is very nice, and you can cook eggs if you want to (she provides them). Sometimes Heather was serving breakfast, she's so funny and... More

My husband and I have stayed at this beautiful place 3 times. We keep coming back. This beautiful house has been lovingly restored. If you love history and old world charm, this is the place for you. The surrounding gardens are magnificent and very private. The house is located in a very quiet street. The beds are very comfortable and... More

My husband and I stayed at the Hale Ho'okipa Inn back in February. Our room was comfortable and we absolutely loved the abundance of fresh fruit served at breakfast every day - much of which is grown on the property. The rest of the breakfast selection is fantastic, as well. We appreciated being able to use the fridge and kitchen... More

It was a privilege to stay in this beautiful historic home built in 1924 which once housed a family with 13 children. The current owner Cherie, has painstakingly restored and cared for the house and the landscaping. Cherie is such a gracious hostess and made my wife and family feel very welcome. It was like a home away from home.

We stayed at the Hale Ho'okipa Inn for two. Overall, it was a pleasant stay. The house and room were nice, and the location is a good home base for exploring central/western Maui. It is very close to the airport and a reasonable distance to the national park and road to Hana. You will be within ten mins walk to... More

Aloha, It was nice to meet you folks. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and wanted to respond to the couple of points you made. I have stayed at this beautifully peaceful B&B several times and would highly recommend. The owner, Cherie, is very welcoming, friendly and extremely knowledgable. Nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are healthy, organic and some of the fruit is homegrown. I particularly enjoyed papaya, mango, strawberry and other exotic fruit for breakfast. The property is full of character and... Had a really great time in Makawao and the Hale Ho'okipa Inn! Cherie's hospitality was most gracious and the location was just perfect for my cycling vacation in Maui. For the destinations I was interested in, Makawao was perfect. Paia, Haleakala, West Maui Loop were all just out the front door. A great breakfast with local fruit and other travelers... More

My wife and I arrived in Makawao without a reservation and were extremely lucky to have come upon the fully-booked, Hale Ho'okipa Inn, just as they had had a cancellation. We really enjoyed staying here for two nights. Cherie, the owner, is fun to talk with and provides a great breakfast selection and suggestions of where to go and what... More

This historic home makes a great central place to stay while exploring Maui. It is quiet and centrally located. The town has great dining options, the Rodeo Store for supplies before heading off on adventures, and the great Komoda bakery. More great eats are found in nearby Paia. The 1928 vintage home is lovely, charmingly decorated, and a warm comfy... More
