Our stay was unbelievable and I wish we could've stayed longer! The property is stunning, so tranquil and tasteful in the landscaping, features, etc. Rooms are gorgeous and the bed is so cozy! Every staff member is sooo kind and welcoming. Highly recommend Lumeria!!

Just back from a trip to Kauai and Maui, and the Highlight was our stay at Lumeria!! It was as if staying on a Plantation in Old Hawai’i, but with the luxuries and manicured gardens of today…. Quiet, serene, rejuvenating. A Must for anyone needing a respite from the “plastic” tourist destinations!! Breakfasts on the porch. Sleepy afternoons in a hammock. Messages or yoga as an option. Sweeping views of the island and sea. Quick trips into sleepy towns with wonderful food & shopping options…. The Perfect Escape.

This establishment has many issues with it. Grounds are lovely yet the staff there is unable to be clear on their communication and also quite unprofessional in allowing well known practioners into their space to work. I was clear with them with all of my communications as to what I was looking to bring there (and have such in writing in emails even) and one person told me one thing and another told me something else and then when I kindly called them out of it they turned it around on me stating I was not clear with what I was offering when I do have proof of emails showing I was! Very unprofessional staff and their pay structure fir offering services at the spa and such is very confusing as well and then I was also told after two months of back and forth with them that I had to be with them for 6 months in order to be offered any ability to offer spa services there which I was never told before and because they could not give me a good reason for why the supposed manager who had never met me would not have me in spa services though I was told to put together a menu of services to offer and spent two months on this only to be given the runaround. I do not recommend this space nor its staff!

Aloha, Thank you very much for your review of your recent stay at Lumeria Maui. As mentioned on our website, Lumeria was added to the National Register of Historical Places- which allows us to maintain + curate this incredible property but restrains us from making any constructional changes. Specifically the interior of our retreat, guest rooms + educational rooms. While we do our best to accommodate all our guests, we donʻt have the ability to manage the potential narrative for upset children. We do apologize for the disturbances. Please do know, It is our mission and priority to be able to offer a very well-maintained and comfortable atmosphere. I hope we can encourage you to visit our property again. Please reach out to our assistant GM directly at 808-579-8877 if you would be willing to give us a chance to turn your experience around. It would be such a pleasure to personally welcome you back. With much appreciation, Lumeria Maui

While the physical property at Lumeria is stunning and beautifully maintained, and its peaceful, quiet and calm energy delightful (except for the occasional rooster) there are a lot of missing amenities at this place that cause me to question what exactly the high room rates and resort fees do cover. The rooms, while comfortable and fairly nice, are dated, ours with broken window treatments, and many in need of serious updating. A resort of this type should offer guest laundry facilities, or, at least a way to have dirty clothes sent out for laundering. ( I was met with a shrug from the reception area when I mentioned this.) The pool had missing and broken lounge chairs and no umbrellas so there was no place to escape the intense sun while at the pool. I cannot comment on the dinners, but the breakfasts were quite underwhelming and always the same bacon, eggs, oatmeal and a lot of bread-y items each day. Pancakes one day were the special. Surprising for a facility that bills itself as a "health and wellness" center. While other condos and airbnb's on the island provided all manner of beach items for our use - we were given two worn out towels. The yoga studio is positioned right next to the dining area so that it was impossible to concentrate or even hear the instructor with all of the noise from guests congregating and chatting outside of the doors. Again, for a facility that emphasizes wellness programs, there do not seem to be enough facilities to do so or the proper environment to hold classes in. There is one quonset hut and one yoga studio and a large grassy area which went mostly unused during our stay. Doubtful that we will return.

This resort is the perfect “upcountry” experience, with charming rooms with high-ceilings and old Hawaii charm, including great river stone-floored showers and plenty of space. The views are lovely, the pool is well kept and the beautiful grounds have fruit trees. The historic lobby/original house is spectacular. The staff are warm and helpful and the breakfast is delicious and served on a veranda with surrounding garden. There are a daily variety of classes included. I have been here twice and plan to go again!

This is my happy place. We traveled around Maui but nothing connected to my heart quite like Lumeria in Makawao. Spacious rooms feel like your own beach hut. Free yoga and breathe work classes included and recommended! Free breakfast, amazing bacon and perfect coffee. You feel at peace, like you have the place to yourself, yet there are others around, including charming wild hen with ten baby chicks! This is not a touristy place. The rooms have real keys, more charm. The grounds are landscaped beautifully. Comfy beds, clean spacious bathrooms. It’s all a ten out of ten. <3

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights for his birthday and everything was perfect! The grounds are gorgeous in every way, the plants, the cool places to relax, the views. Our room was simply lovely-from a comfortable bed, lush towels and the best bath products. We did not want to leave for the day on Saturday, but loved hanging out by the pool. We joined an amazing yoga class in the morning and loved the food we had. We had breakfast both mornings and we had dinner Saturday night. My husband loved the steak and they had a delicious tempe main for me as I am vegetarian. We felt like we had gone to heaven for the weekend. I loved this place, it is nothing like the huge resorts on the south and west sides. This feels like the real Hawaii-we can not wait to come back!

I stayed here on a meditation retreat. Overall the experience as good. However, for the price there were a few things I was disappointed with. My bathroom shower had an ant problem for the duration of my stay and it was not addressed when my room was cleaned like requested. The pool area was cleaned due to our requests, not on a regular basis as needed. Items around the resort need updating, like outdoor cushions and some chairs. Breakfast daily was included in our stay, but it again did not meet expectations. It was the same food 6 days in a row. Overall, still a great stay, just didn't meet my expectations for the price I paid to stay there.

This place is special. The classes they offer are outstanding. The caliber of teachers was top notch. They explained their classes very well, they were suited from novice to advance. The grounds were beautiful and the building is a 1920s wooden building with a rich history. Each morning I would do the 8 am yoga class. Then my husband and I would head over to the dining area to order breakfast and enjoy alfresco dining. The food was good, eggs, bacon, steel cut oats, toast and fresh fruit. Also, the coffee was great. It was nice to sit in the jaccuzzi, or hammocks or in the beautiful lobby. This a great place to come to heal and be nurtured.
