My Criteria for Accommodations: If I’m going to be near an ocean, I’m going to be ON the ocean. I’m going to be able to sit there and watch the waves unobstructed. I’m going to be able to hear them. Second, the limit for a place to lay my head on a pillow for 8 hours is usually $75 but... More

First off...you come to Makaha to get away from "the people"...Waikiki is great and we loved staying there for a few nights too but Makaha is "Country"...lots of locals and no crowds. My cousin lives in Makaha and recommended the Cabanas to me. I did some research before booking and decided that I wanted a bottom floor unit that walks... More

For us, PERFECT. We are still here. Renting the unit was a breeze - the owner Joe Hynek - very accomodating and answers the phone each time. THE BEACH: Best kept secret; you have 1/2 mile of blue crystal clear water; hardly anyone on the beach -soo private. The pics you see is what you get. Water was warm, undertow... More

I lived at the Cabanas for 2-years. I go back there every year for the past 22 years. Staying at the Cabanas is one of the best kept secrets on the island. Every time I read a negative review is make me sick. The people who write these reviews are absolute pigs and do not appreciate what is nice and... More

Full review to come but clean w/a/c + freePhone to anywhere. We don't enjoy tourist haunts and enjoy meeting the people of the places we go. The people who live here are so kind and down to earth. We encounter few of the problems mentioed here. Sec guard and working staff was helpful and generous with their time and suggestions.... More

We stayed on the fourth floor and the view was amazing. Our condo is privately owned and they were fantastic at making sure we had everything that was needed. I was skeptical about the no a/c part, since we are from Texas, but in the winter months it's not needed. The town is 30-60 minutes from everything but if you... More

As noted with other reviews, each rental unit is individually owned so your experience may vary. Our 4th floor unit had a sliding glass window wall, no a/c, but several fans. At night we opened the window wall and the living room jalousies and enjoyed a tropical breeze thru the unit with the sound of crashing surf. We looked at... More

We came here during Thanksgiving week and stayed in one of the "room for four" condos. It was clean, well equipped and most of all affordable for our family. Where else in Oahu can you have a nice place to stay with an oceanfront view for $100 a night? The grounds of the condos are gated and well kept. The... More

My boyfriend and I stayed in this unit Oct 15-22, 2013. This is a top floor, corner unit so you only have one neighbor beside you. Yes, Makaha is about a 45min drive away from the Honolulu/Waikiki area but it is worth staying here if you want to get away from the crowds of Waikiki. This unit is located in... More
