There is a reason this place is so high up on the tripadvisor list and the main reason is the incredibly genuine and friendly staff. Throughout my stay everyone did their best to assist and answer all questions. The rooms were VERY clean and comfortanble with smart furnishings. I loved sitting on the sundeck mixing with other guests and watching...

First of all, the location is fantastic! There's an F-train stop right across the street that can get you to pretty much anywhere and it's within walking distance to the Castro district which is filled with nice shops and places to eat. The room was very comfortable, clean and looked to be recently renovated. It was quite spacious (we got...

This hotel was extremely clean and very cozy, the modern decor helps you to feel right at home. There is some stairs and a patio so you can get a great view of the city. Also, across the street there is a small coffee shop in which we enjoyed bagels and coffee almost every day, we were able to walk...

Really amazing place! Free parking, which is unheard of in San Francisco. The place is also right in the Castro, in an amazing location. The rooms are new and clean, and the exterior is kitschy and awesome. We loved hanging out on the terrace, watching the Castro night life. You also get unlimited free coffee from the coffee shop across...

Driving to San Francisco made the convenient location the easiness of access and the free parking a considerable plus. Tips and comments in previous reviews were generally accurate, particularly regarding the spotless cleanliness of the room and the bathroom (nice large shower). Very well situated also in terms of access to restaurants, services and the excellent public transportation, including the...

An excellent place to stay. Great location, fantastic rooms. Decor is wonderful - someone has really thought about it. Staff are really friendly and welcoming. Rooms and bathrooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean. Really couldn't fault ANYTHING about this place!

Hotel is conveniently located in the Castro district and has free parking which is a huge plus. Staff was average upon check in. They weren't friendly but weren't terrible either. Mechanical. Rooms were tight. Bed frame sticks out further than the mattress, which we both walked into countless times. Bathroom- no complaints. Spacious. Clean and a large shower. Maybe problem...

Sorry to hear that your stay did not exceed your expectations. With the renovations, we made many improvements to eliminate sound transfer (additional insulation, ticker Sheetrock, moved electrical plugs, thicker carpet padding, etc). Thank you for alerting us to the sounds issues you experienced, we will explore what else can be done to that room to improve guests' stays.

Becks Motor Lodge is convenient, clean, updated, and reasonably priced…with free, albeit limited, parking! Public transportation is super convenient along Market Street, but my trip entailed a drive down to Big Sur then a trek north through San Francisco to the Muir Woods and Point Lobos area. If I had just visited San Francisco itself, I would not have even...

The hotel has been remodeled and is nice. I loved the huge shower. The location is great for roaming around the Castro area; it's only a couple of blocks to Castro and Market. My only complaint is that it's a little noisy from Market Street and you can hear the people in the next room. The staff were friendly and...

My friend and I took a quick turnaround trip to SF this weekend. Since we were going to drive, we wanted a place that had free parking. I checked out several motels in the Marina/Presidio district and they all charged for parking. We decided to stay at Beck's even though it was pricier but we knew it and we were...

Staying in The Castro

Neighbourhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
