Really enjoyed staying here. Looks rather unpromising from the outside, however the super friendly and helpful staff and the rooms put your mind at rest. The rooms are very well modernised and the complete absence of chintz was welcomed. Location is really convenient sitting between 2 MUNI stations and also the F line. Good selection of bars, cafes and restaurants...

Well you can certainly see that Becks Motor Lodge has been investing heavily in the accommodation - our room (3rd floor) was a good size and the bathroom was huge and finished to a very high standard. No bath tub but a large walk in shower with rainfall shower head. Coffee making facilities in room (no kettle though) and a...

I've been a monthly visitor for the last 7-8 years and I love the staff and owner and all the improvements they have been doing over the last couple of years. The staff has always been accommodating. They are the nicest group of people. Even though the staff have changed over the years the ones that have stayed on and...

When every thing in San Francisco continues to go up here's a hotel that offers pretty good value for money. We stayed in a newly refurbished room on the 3rd floor at the rear of the property. We were given a discounted rate because the renovations that are underway, which were not that noisy or inconvenient. The hotel is in...

The newly renovated rooms were very comfortable - great value for money in SF! The outside renovations were not disruptive in any way. Great location close to the Castro area with Muni to downtown and F Wharf at the doorstep. Free parking was a bonus.

I apologize to Beck's and readers of my previous review of the motel for somehow giving it an overall 1 rating - definitely a 5! Beck's always delivers. Rooms are quite nice as motels go, beds are comfortable, bathroom layout is nice and shower is wonderful.. You can pay a lot more and be half way across town, or you...

Complaints of construction issues is - in our opinion - extremely exaggerated. I personally spoke with the contractor, who detailed their process... working only in the winter/spring months. They are completely overhauling this family-owned property inside and out, up and down. The family is not scrimping on doing the renovation... the elevator alone rivals any other hotel, anywhere. Every mechanical...

My family and I stayed for one night and were not disappointed. The lodge is centrally located in the friendly Castro neighborhood, close to restaurants and cafes. It seems that they're renovation project is almost completed, so there shouldn't be any issues with that. However, I must mention that if you're a light sleeper you might wake up with the...

As tourists, we like to immerse ourselves in the culture and daily life of the city we are visiting. Thus, upon visiting San Francisco for the first time, we didn't want to stay at a downtown tourist hotel in Union Square. Beck's Motor Lodge was a fantastic location near a subway line and all forms of public transportation AND it...

Staying in The Castro

Neighbourhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.

“The rooms and bathrooms have been updated and they look nice but the price was still high. Trip adviser states that prices start at 114.00 for a standard room. I was charged 189.00 for single occupancy in what I thought was a standard room. I was on a budget and would have been much happier for the 114.00 room if it even exits. ”
