Hotel Rex is one of those great finds--a charming, comfortable hotel in downtown San Francisco. Rhenna at the Front Desk had an amazing memory regarding the guests. And she never seemed to tire of answering their questions. She's a great asset to the hotel.
The Rex is well located in San Francisco, a couple of blocks from Union Square and near plenty of shopping and restaurants. But the delightful front desk staff notwithstanding, its location is the best part of the Rex experience. Free wine at the end of...More
Close to Union Sq, this has an old world feel about it. One small elevator, adequate but not generously sized rooms, and the feel of an old (but nicely renovated) building, channeling a literary vibe. Just as long as you don't expect a fancy (soulless)...More
I've stayed at a few SFO hotels and I would recommend the Hotel Rex. The colors are bright and cheerful, the room was clean, and the staff was helpful. It is very convenient to the financial district and a lot of excellent restaurants within a...More

Originally home to rallies supporting the Union Army in the Civil War, this grand square has become the city's premier shopping and entertainment district containing the largest number of upscale department stores, chic boutiques, art galleries and theatres in the city. It's a large open area where tourists and locals gather, watch cable cars and crowds go by, enjoy a snack, or plan their day of shopping and
sightseeing, If feeling the pulsating energy of the city is on your agenda, Union Square is the place to soak it in.

Hello and thank you for choosing us to stay with. It depends. If you are going to use your car valet is worth it at 50 $ a night. But if you were not going to use the car a lot with park and stay (and there are 3 less then a block away.) at 30 $ a night is best. Public transportation is easy and quick here In San Francisco. You of course and park in the white zone out front of the hotel and check in. We look forward to having you and let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi sorry for my late response been in the Lake district for a break. Anyway when we stayed the room was at the rear of the Rex and was dark however very nice quiet and comfortable. As I said if I stayed again I would go for a room at the front of the Hotel and the morning sunlight but then of course I would be on the street side so will probably get some traffic noise. Hope that helps.
