For a premium priced hotel we were very disappointed. Awkward room layout, cheap furniture, tiny awkwardly positioned tv, paint peeling in the bathtub and a paper thin door between the next room resulting in little sleep due to noisy neighbors. Huge waste of money. Don't bother.

I stayed here for a conference at the Moscone Center. It is a bit of a walk to the Moscone Center, but it is near some great restaurants. The front desk staff and doorman were friendly and polite. Check-in/Check-out was quick and easy. Room was clean and well-maintained. Plenty of elevators, so never had to wait long for one. I... More

Hotel signs were not visible from the street, so we drove past it twice before we realized it was actually best to trust our GPS. From the moment we pulled up, the Staff was quite pleasant and helpful. On our first night there, I noticed that the tub drained quite slowly (water up to our ankles); the next day, upon... More

This was my second time staying here and it was great. My room was spectacular! The staff was curtious and respectful. Both nights I donned in the redwood room my meals were tasty and filling. I was a bit let down because it was the same menu as my last stay. I would suggest they should mix it up every... More

The Clift is a terrific boutique hotel and well located in downtown San Francisco. There's great attention to detail throughout the hotel with a particular emphasis on high design, which makes for very enjoyable change of pace from the large chains. There is, however, a need for some updating of the bathrooms as the fixtures are tired and the paint... More

I have wanted to stay at The Clift for 35 years! It is elegant, perfectly positioned, and a totally satisfying experience. The Redwood Lounge is reminiscent of The Ahwahnee Hotel. We most particularly enjoyed the view from our corner room on the 9th floor.

Good location, close to public transport links and restaurants. Room very comfortable and the bar and lounge area cosy with fabulous open fire. Only criticism was that when we were there it could get a little boisterous at night, and a broken glass outside our door remained there all day.

Had a great time at the hotel. The beds are really comfortable. While it is definitely a hip hotel didn't feel out of place. Another plus, wonderful staff that's completely accommodating. Enjoyed the drinks at the bar, though they are a bit spendy and the bartenders were just as attentive as the staff at the front desk.

Good hotel in a convenient neighborhood. Lot of homeless people in the area, but that's not the hotel's issue. Plus: good price, Minus: $25/day "resort fee". I would rather have that fee added to the up-front cost of the hotel than added as an additional fee. If I had known this, I wouldn't have upgraded rooms for an additional $20/day.... More

As stated previously. You need a complete redo of the decor. Get rid of the studio 54, Open the Redwood Room for dinner. Drinks in the bar have always been wonderful, miss the nut bowl. Doorman hard to find. Concierge missing. Front desk lovely clerks, they deserve a better hotel environment.
