The innkeeper, Jan, was attentive and gave us directions to c retain areas we wanted to visit. Breakfast was great. It could nsisted of fruit, cereal, bread, coffee, juice and he prepared whatever was on the menu...

This is our second stay with Jan, and it was even better than our first visit last year. In addition to welcoming and comfortable lodgings, Jan is a wonderful host and excellent breakfast cook. He goes above and beyond for his guests. It is straight-friendly too!

the inn is very close to the center of the Castro district and convenient to Upper Market and the Mission district is within easy walking distance. We enjoyed a wonderful morning walk up to the delightful Buena Vista park. Parking can be had a few blocks away at the hospital going north on Castro Street. Caren, Jan's sister was a...

If you are looking for a great location in the Castro, this is the place. We were steps from MUNI streetcars or subway. We had the white room with the private bath and enjoyed it. The city views from our room were amazing. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

This place was great. I loved breakfast every morning and our room was very quiet. We had a room on the ground floor and my only complaints were the short ceilings, small-ish bathroom and feeling like the bed might have tilted downward a little toward the head. Otherwise everything was fabulous and one block off Castro and Market: very convenient...

We stayed in the two bedroom apartment on Caselli and it was wonderful! Jan was so accommodating when we made changes to our reservation, and he made everything so convenient for us. The location was perfect and the apartment was absolutely beautiful. Would absolutely stay here again the next time I'm in town - I didn't want to leave! Very...

Great location, okay breakfast but old rooms that don't even have power half the time. Also when I called to figure out how to get power at 9:30pm the inn keeper was rude and seemed annoyed with me that I'd used a heater which can't be used in conjunction with other things being turned on. There might even be a...

The Inn on Castro is a very uniquely quiet and private bed and breakfast/inn right over the heart of the Castro. The bed was cozy, the shower roomy, the staff gentle and accommodating, the amenities (mini frig in the hall, chocolates on the end tables in the hall by the bookshelves---filled with books) homey. I loved being here and felt...

This really great little inn is situated just by Market street/ Castro Street. You have the cablecars and the underground very very nereby. The rooms are clean and different from each other and are so nice. Jan, the owner, is very sympathic host and makes a superb breakfast each morning. Just remember as it is situated just on Castro Street...

This would be our 5th stay here and it never disappoints. Stayed in the Red Room and it was very comfortable as well as quite. Jan was wonderful, he made us feel very welcomed and made killer breakfasts each morning. Will always stay here on our travels to San Francisco. Thanks so much Jan!!! Hope to return soon.

Staying in The Castro

Neighbourhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
