The Hotel Griffin is a small boutique hotel in a fantastic location close to the financial district, Mission Street, China Town, and the Embarcadero. The rooms are nicely appointed, clean, and comfortable. Although the rooms are fairly small (which is expected in the city) they're set up really well and two of us were very comfortable during our four night...

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts on our hotel, the Hotel Griffon. We are delighted to know that you found our hotel comfortable and convenient and were able to dine at the delicious Perry's! Most of all, we appreciate the recognition of our staff, who take a tremendous amount of pride in being able...

We stayed at Hotel Griffon for the final four days of a holiday to California to celebrate my partner's 60th birthday. I am so pleased we discovered it. The ambiance reminds me of a small hotel in Europe - beautifully appointed but casual and very very comfortable. The staff were excellent - especially Annette (thank you so much!!) and Julie...

So, I needed responsiveness when I locked myself out of the wall safe. It was during the day and it was fixed, I would guess, within 10 minutes. The same man also fixed the phone which had no dial tone. The hotel itself is very clean and reasonably priced, great location ~1 block away from the Embarcadero and the Ferry...

Late April is a good time to visit San Francisco. We experienced two wonderful days in this iconic city. Selecting the Hotel Griffon as our anchor point was the best choice of all. First impressions are important and the valet made us feel welcomed. We booked on line. At check-in all was in order and paper work was accurate. The...

Hotel Griffon is a small, boutique hotel located in downtown San Francisco . The staff was friendly and very helpful. My only complaint is the room was much smaller than I expected. I would stay there again in a larger room.

The Griffon is one of the best kept secrets in San Francisco. It is located on the Embarcadero across from the always fun and interesting Ferry Building, with its incredible Farmers Markets and great food. It's near some of our long time favorite SF restaurants- Boulevard and a yank Sing to name a few. Easy access to AT&T Park, the...

Superb location by the Iakland Bridge. Most touristic attractions in walking distance Tram to Fishermans wharf is only 5 minute walk. Staff really helpful. Overnights gut and taking expensive but this is offset by the views. Ask for room with a view if the harbor

The perfect combo of waterfront and boutique hotel. Loved my weekend! Especially grateful to Larry who checked me in late Sat eve and understood how much I wanted a Bay View! He searched the inventory (after I returned to the front desk being extremely disappointed by the view from my room) and was able to upgrade me to fabulous Bay...

I am new to the Hotel Griffon but very familiar, and experienced, with San Francisco. For years I've stayed elsewhere, including in private apartments and numerous hotels, always seeking the "special" service that's become so rare to find. Today, however, I discovered a special, secret place - Hotel Griffon - and the extraordinary staff members who made me feel at...

Small. Small room. Dark room and gloomy was the only problem. I'm Great staff and location restaurant and bar staff were wonderful It was just the room size with no window to open. We stayed in room 213. I would recommend not that room by ice machine too. Nice hotel Happy I stayed there but for 220$ with parking Wasn't...

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
