A wonderful boutique hotel right on the Embarcadero with gorgeous views of the Bay Bridge and Bay. Across from the Ferry Building, there are miles of waterside walks, which during the season make for an easy mile hike to watch the Giants. Plenty of restaurants nearby including some with Michelin ratings. A very quiet and clean area. This is a boutique hotel, so the standard room will be on the small side, but the king rooms seem a bit bigger. Bay view rooms have the gorgeous view, but be aware that the al fresco dining on the sidewalk below generates some noise into the wee hours. The staff is super friendly and helpful with guest needs and suggestions. They are great ambassadors for the property, and make you feel welcome and cared for. The room rates are incredibly reasonable for San Francisco, but as everywhere in the City, parking adds a substantial "extra" to the cost of the room. Very, very clean, really comfortable beds, nice bath products, and believe it or not, soft towels. Public transportation in some form is the only way to get around in the City, so you can get anywhere you want to be from this location, and have the advantage of being in a clean, safe and quiet section of the City. Personally, we have found our San Francisco hotel for future trips.

Add $20 PER DAY to whatever room rate you obtain. The amenity fee covers cheap thermos coffee in the lobby each morning and a water bottle filling station. Most other hotels provide this stuff for free. The rooms are small but in good condition. The hotel has a great location and is very close to the ferry building.

We have stayed here several times during the past few years. For us, it is the best location in San Francisco. Highly walkable and near several really outstanding restaurants. Bay view room had extra seating, a large closet and was comfortable. Front desk was friendly and accommodated a couple of minor requests with ease. Will stay here again.

I was delightfully surprised with this small hotel. We reserved the top floor with the view of the bay bridge. It was beautiful. We kept our window open to listen to the sounds of the streets and look at all the happenings. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. There was plenty of room for 4 people. I will definitely come back. The restaurant there called Perry's was very good and the staff courteous and helpful. It is close to the Ferry building and Giants stadium and an uber ride to every place else.

We stayed at the hotel this past weekend. Unknown to us they charge you a fee per night for wifi, coffee service, housecleaning etc. Maybe I haven't stayed in a hotel for awhile but I've never been charged this at other hotels or maybe I just haven't noticed. Just a public service announcement.

Dearest nicoledB330JI, We are all so very pleased you chose to stay with us at our beautiful little Hotel Griffon by the Bay and for sharing your candid feedback. With regards to the Amenity Fee we have intentionally priced ourselves among the lowest in San Francisco and we work very hard to make this very transparent on our website and with all 3rd party booking sites. and we'll continue to do so. The Amenity Fee is for our upgraded Wifi, our Advanced Filtered Water Stations, the Peet's coffee and tea service we lay our every morning and potential luggage storage. Wishing you and yours the safest and happiest of travels... With Kindest Regards, Ann
