The hotel is a combination of expensive and worn out, the decor is old, the room badly laid out and not entirely clean. And as one would expect from an institution that is this run down, the service is equally poor. It needs paint, new furniture and new staff to justify its ability t

Love historic hotels and this one is great. Awesome staff. Love the views from Top of the Mark. The view just doesn't quit! Highly recommended. One of the best Sunday brunches I've ever had! We'd go back there in a heartbeat!

Great hotel. The gorgeous architecture, cozy beds and thoughtful service made for an easy stay in SF. Check out the IHG cloud lounge and the rooftop top of the mark bar/restaurant. The views are gorgeous!

Overall a nice hotel in a good location. Room was well appointed but the bathroom way too small. No counter space for toiletries. Didn't know until checkout there was a coffee maker in the room hidden away in the cabinet. Would have been nice to have had a coffee shop in the hotel or nearby.

I lived in San Francisco for many years, and never passed through the doors of the Mark Hopkins, not even to go to the Top of the Mark. So I relished the opportunity on this trip to enjoy the pleasure of staying there! I was not disappointed in any way. The service provided by the hotel's personnel is exceptional, very...

My wife and I have stayed here many times before but it was the first time here for our adult children. I especially love this hotel because of my father, who was a submarine officer in World War Two in the south Pacific, had such fond memories of it. But that is not why we stay here. We enjoy staying...

I did not find this hotel worth the money at all. The rooftop bar was nice, but I would opt out of staying at this hotel and just come to the bar on your own. I also had an awful experience with the plumbing that, while fixed, was not acknowledged by management at all. This was especially frustrating after I...

We stay here every April to celebrate our anniversary and the Easter weekend. Grace Cathedral is a block walk through the park for Sunday church. Views of San Francisco are breathtaking when seen from the Top of the Mark at sundown. The rooms are lovely and well appointed- not very spacious but fine. Bathrooms are new but with old world...

Stayed here for a weekend in San Francisco. We weren't sightseeing, but rather looking for a break. Hotel was built in the mid-20s, classy, has been updated and is modern. Like all older/historical buildings, there are some inconveniences (odd door openings, room shape/size, etc). Most rooms have an excellent view being on top of Nob Hill. Clean. Excellent service. Fantastic...

I stayed here for a few days between Christmas and New Year's 2017. My room had a partial view of the Bay, was spacious and nicely decorated. I got a great rate as well. The staff was first rate and the location on Nob Hill cannot be beat.

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
