I would not classify this a hotel. It looks more like a hostel. The room was really, small, street noise was constant, walls are thin and the area of town was not as I would have pictured. The staff tried best, but this is a budget hostel.

I have been afraid to post this review, as I feel like this place is the best kept secret in SFO, and I want to keep it that way. But alas, they deserve to have it said that this the location, the price, and the staff of the Metro Hotel cannot be beat. Rooms are cozy, but have a

Me and my girlfriend stayed here in August, we started our west coast trip in San Fran and found the metro to be good value for money and in a decent spot. Hotel is clean, rooms a little basic but enough for what we needed. Coffee shops nearby for the mornings and enough bars

Love everything bout our stay in the Metro. Peeps at front desk are particularly commendable especially Angela and Harold who are friendly and helpful with recommendations (best Mexican we’ve ever had and the Canopy View Trail at Muir was just the perfect choice for us) who gave

My partner, Matt and I stayed at this beautiful boutique hotel in San Francisco for post surgery recovery from UCSF. It is about 7-10mins away from UCSF and very close to everything within walking distance. I admired the paintings on the wall and discovered that the paintings

The city is so easy to navigate that The Metro is a great base. You could cover the places you mention seeing including China Town, in one day. So staying right next to them isn't necessary. The hotel is about 5 mins walk from Alama Square (Painted Ladies) and 10 mins walk from centre of Castro or Golden Gate Park, even Twin Peaks is walkable.

Absolutely I would recommend The Metro. It's charming, affordable, decorative. The hotel is located in the center of the city, equidistant to the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge to the east, and Ocean Beach on the west coast. The neighborhood has Thai, Indian, Mexican, barbecue, there is even an Italian restaurant next-door. The staff is welcoming and helpful. Hotel clean and quaint. It's not fancy (no ice machine for example 😊) but I would stay here anytime I visit San Francisco.

We are returning to this hotel in November after staying there in May. If you will be out of the room most of your stay and want an affordable boutique hotel in a great location, this is definitely the place for you. Super clean, very comfortable bed and great shower. Front desk personnel go out of their way to be helpful. Room is small and there’s no elevator. If you are okay with that I highly recommend.
