I recently stayed three nights for my daughter's graduation from San Fransisco State. What an added bonus this stay was. You won't find a friendlier staff of people, who greet you with a warm welcome each time you come through the front door. The place is iMMACULATE! Even though the room we had was small, they did advised us of...

This location is fantastic. My friend and I stayed in the room with two twin beds. It was cozy. The bathroom is small, but I had no problem with it. They don't have an elevator, so you do have to walk up the stairs with your luggage. Just something to keep in mind. The price is very reasonable though and...

I spoke to the manager/owner before we came from Hood River, Oregon who was very kind and knowing. San Francisco has great public transportation and this hotel is close to that. There are so many good restaurants close by.

We loved our stay at The Metro Hotel. It's is centrally located and everything is either in walking distance or can be reached with public transportation. The service was wonderful with a friendly check-in and -out. We were in room 1010 which is ideal for 2 people. We were 3 and I was the one stuck sleeping on the pull...

Thank you for your recent review. The little sofa bed from Crate and Barrel is new and you are the first to give us feedback. We are sorry you did not have a good night's sleep. Since reading your review we put an additional Ikea Foam mattress topper in the closet, which can be added to the sofa bed for...

This place is amazing & in a great neighborhood. The staff was very friendly & the rooms were quaint & clean. I would recommend this as a place to stay, great restaurants close by too. There are a lot of stairs, but they let you know that on their website.

You do have to love this neighborhood! Beautiful Victorian's nestled with great restaurants. Thank you for your review. The Hotel does have classic 14 foot ceilings adding more stairs to each floor. We like to think of it as extra exercise to burn off a piece of The Mill's famous cinnamon toast.

We stayed on the second floor in the back of the hotel and looked over the quaint garden. The room was small but very clean. Nice to be near the Castro neighbourhood too! Would recommend! The Italian restaurant that the hotel shares the garden with is also quite good and the garden closes at 11pm so it isn't noisey.

Thank you for your thoughtful review, Ragazza (the Italian restaurant) is always a favorite of our guests and locals too. We hope to have you as our guest on your next visit to San Francisco.

The Metro Hotel had everything we needed - a comfortable bed and en suite bathroom. Perfect location, close to great restaurants, easy to venture out and explore San Francisco. The room was small and the shower was small but we weren't looking for a hotel to hang out in, just a place to rest and clean up before our next...

Our full rooms are very petite, as you perfectly described, they are for the type of guests who are looking for a comfortable bed to sleep in and a place to clean up before your next event. Thank you in advance for your return visit to The Metro Hotel we look forward to having...

I read all of the reviews here on TripAdvisor before choosing The Metro for a 3 night stay. So glad everyone offered their comments as my expectations were matched! The Metro is a delightful boutique hotel that blends into the neighborhood and makes you feel like a "local." As a 55+ female, traveling alone for a milestone birthday weekend with...

Thank you for the wonderful review and spending your special birthday in San Francisco at The Metro Hotel. The bed in room 101 is actually a queen but we love that you thought it was so big.

This is a gem of a place to stay. Nicely located with affordable prices. The bed was fantastic, very comfortable with a nice assortment of pillows to choose from. The front desk was great, helpful and friendly. I will definitely stay here again.

Clean nice hotell. We stayed at room 101 &201, they were spacious enough. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There are nice restaurants and bars near by and it was easy to find buses to see other parts of the SF. Good value for money!

Hello Anne, Thank you for the review. It helps future guests and tripadvisor fans decide if our hotel is a good fit. Rooms 101 and 103 and 201 are all of our guest's favorites if they are working from the hotel room. Lots of light and a desk in the window makes for a pretty nice work space.

Staying in Haight-Ashbury

Neighbourhood Profile
The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops. While the Summer of Love ended decades ago, Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through its streets can still feel like stepping back in time. A must-see neighbourhood for most music fans, it’s easy to see why these streets attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. You’ll likely be content in The Haight day or night, just be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
