This hotel is decorated by local artists, not only with paintings but also themed rooms. Sometimes it works well, sometimes not..... Our room, 307, was themed on what I would call elderly hoarder/log cabin. It's decorations included old piles of paper tied up with string, bottles of nails, old light bulbs, collections of kettles, frypans and other stuff, and perhaps...

This hotel as it says in the name has funky art everywhere. The rooms are comfortable the shower over a claw bath and bed excellent, with nice white linen and towels. Hotel staff were helpful. Hotel is 5 mins walk from Union Sq, try the Irish bar next door. Breakfast finished a bit early and certainly by 830 you were...

I never actually fulfilled my stay here due to work commitments. However, before my stay they were extremely helpful with any questions I had. Then once I had to cancel they were very understanding and responded to all messages swiftly. Certainly makes me want to deal with them again in the future. A little kindness goes a long way!

Pro's: great location, we felt very safe and there were lots of good dining options nearby. The room was very clean. Con's: very expensive for what is on offer (but we understand SF is an expensive place to stay). Whilst the art on the website looked fresh & fun our room was very dark with punk sex graffiti (not our...

Great stay, nice clean room. Basic room furniture just what you need for a short stay. Friendly staff, say hi each time they see you. Very central, by Chinese Gateway. Walked to fishermans wharf area and all over central city easily. Loved our stay.

Hotel des Arts is a 2 star hotel with a very unique atmosphere. For San Francisco it is very good value. The rooms are clean and have everything you need including good quality free wifi. Breakfast is part of the price and the staff are very friendly. It is located just across from the Lion Gate into China Town and...

This hotel is in an excellent location for exploring San Francisco. Located on the doorstep of Chinatown and only a stones throw from union square. However the room did not quite live up to expectation. The "art" in our room could not really be called art (some of the rooms appear to be better). The room was clean but compact....

This place is quirky...well-situated and not for folks looking for the typical business stay. It was just three blocks from my conference and steps away from Chinatown. I *loved* the art but but see how perhaps it would't be for everyone. There was a bit of a snafu at my check-in that was quickly dealt with. Yes, this is an...

My sister and I visited San Francisco and all in all USA for the first time. We chose Hotel des Arts because of its location and price. We stayed for 10 days and found that this little artsy hotel has some big plusses and minuses. Plusses: 1. Location - location in San Francisco is gold. When we chose this hotel,...

Stayed here for a non-refundable 10 nights (yes, 10!) for a course with USF in the bay area plus extra days of touring. Reasonable price and decent location for downtown considering how expensive other hotels in the area are. Steps away from the entrance to China Town and a few minutes away from some nice restaurants and nightlife. The artwork...
