This hotel is perfect for exploring San Francisco. To start with the location is perfect and within easy walking distance of all the central sights and to transport links to those further afield. Everyone was very friendly and helpful - great service, they clearly really enjoy showing their city off to visitors. The room was very comfortable, I had one...

I had friends visiting San Francisco and they invited me to come visit them for the weekend. They were staying at the Mark Hopkins, but I was looking for a place near them that would offer a comfortable, personable atmosphere for a small amount of money. In San Francisco, that's no easy feat, but the Golden Gate delivered. It was...

This is my first time at the Golden Gate, and if you're looking for a charming B&B with a European feeling, I highly recommend it. The room is not large, but big enough, with a wooden armoire and dresser and a nice painting on the wall. The bed is comfortable, and the bathroom, while on the small size, clean and...

During our Honeymoon trip myself and my wife decided to arrive in San Francisco a day earlier than planned. Unable to get an extra day with our existing booking we looked around and found the Golden Gate Hotel at a good price. Walking in the door, I would have thought we had stumbled into somebodies house if not for the...

I'm so glad we chose the Golden Gate rather than a generic chain hotel for our San Francisco stay. The hotel staff (and pets) were most welcoming! At one point it did seem strange to get back to the hotel after night out on the town and have a golden retriever follow me back to our room :) location was...

This place is fantastic! Granted, we had just come from the generic expanse of hotels that is Las Vegas but still this place is fantastic. We were overwhlemed with helpful and caring staff from the moment our taxi pulled up outside. Nothing was too much of a hassle. The big drawcard for us (manic animal lovers) was of course Pip...

I loved this hotel. As a single female travelling it was a great relief to find such a welcoming, safe, centrally located and comfortable hotel that I could afford. I looked for ages to find something cheaper, but in the end I was so glad that I chose this one and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others in the...

The Golden Gate Hotel B&B on bush St. is just off Powell St. in downtown San Francisco. The staff is extremely helpful and courteous. The breakfast is tasty but minimal......juice, croissant, hot beverage. They do have afternoon tea and cookies which is a nice refresher after sightseeing all day. We enjoyed comparing travel experiences with other travelers.... many from outside...

What a gem of a location, picked because of the reviews on this site and we weren't let down one bit! lovely hotel, and we opted for the shared bathroon based on budget constraints and for our 5 nights never once did we clash with any guests for using the facilities, so worth bearing in mind if the budget is...

This is a lovely, small hotel with an exceptionally friendly staff, good parking arrangement, and plentiful continental breakfast. The rooms are small, but well appointed. Our only complaint was trafic noise at night. Bush is a busy street and SF a busy city. I would ask for a room at the back of the hotel.
