Great location 2 blocks from Union Square. Old building with nice updates, helpful staff, and decent amenities. Have stayed several times. This recent stay was a bit of a disappointment. The breakfast was very inconsistent for the 4 days we were there. 2 of the days the eggs were inedible. While I appreciate the hot breakfast, the selection of items...

I was very impressed with our stay at the Mystic Hotel. I went to my facebook page and told all of my friends what a treasure I found !! It was the best location in SF just a block and half from Union Square. Even though we were so close to all the activity the city brings the noise level...

Our overall experience was positive, the location is great, very close from union square and transportation, the room was big enough and comfortable. The only negative aspects were that the shower was cold one night, the fire alarm went off one day but it was a false alarm (needless to say we rushed out of the rooms like crazy) and...

I was pleased to see that the city bus stop was right at the door of this hotel. The breakfast was good-toast, eggs, fruit, bacon, cereal, oatmeal. The rooms were small, and some views were of the alleyway and a brick wall. The elevator was very old and outdated- spooked me to ride at times. Rooms were clean, and cozy....

Nice hotel in a great location in San Francisco. The hotel is different enough from "standard" hotels with friendly staff and the room was comfortable. It's location is great being 1 minute walk from Union Square with public transport very close by. Breakfast is included and was nice.

Not a bad stay at Mystic Hotel. Our first night our room was so small and SO HOT we had to be asked to another room which was MUCH better. Air con room and more space made it. Breakfast in the morning was yum and some staff were friendly.

I stayed in the hotel in September 2016 for leisure. Nice boutique hotel with really friendly staff. The location is excellent, right next to the Union Square. Room was stylish and clean, but a bit noisy. Breakfast was really good.

Filthy carpet's covered in stains. Staff couldn't care less. Half of the views from the hotel are of the alley dumpster. Bottles being thrown into the dumpster begin at 5 AM so don't intend to sleep. Close to one of the worst places I've ever stayed in.

This hotel is a disaster. Charlie Palmer should take his name off. Be prepared to be greeted by the stench of urine and vagrants. The hotel is next door to a liquor store. The carpets are dirty, there is no ac and you will not be able to sleep if they give you a room above their restaraunt. My room...

The location is great for all travellers to SF. Room was very comfortable. We had a high storey room giving us a glimpse of the Union Square. The room was a bit small for effective storing of luggage though. One issue was the sink in the bathroom that took a lot of time to drain water. Food in the restaurant...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mystic Hotel Union Square San Francisco by Charlie Palmer is a smart, sleek retreat situated in the heart of the city's busiest neighborhoods. Conveniently located just one block from the iconic cable car line in the middle of three key destinations – Union Square, Chinatown and the Financial District — Mystic Hotel offers a convenient, comfortable and unique modern boutique hotel experience in a historic location. With a contemporary look and feel, our accommodations are designed to reflect the changing need of today's traveler. Enjoy high-touch service and an ideal Union Square location, perfect for travelers looking to experience all the adventures of San Francisco. Like a private club, enjoy handcrafted cocktails in the Burritt Room, the intimate film noir-inspired bar named for Burritt Alley, where detective Sam Spade's partner Miles Archer was gunned down in The Maltese Falcon. Then, step into the speakeasy vibe of renowned Chef Charlie Palmer’s adjoining Burritt Tavern, where walled-in and curtained booths create dark corners for private conversations and Executive Chef Luke Knox turns out classic food like steaks and chops done right. Knox also takes advantage of Bay area's tremendous green markets as well as the extraordinary offerings from local food artisans in menus built around prized regional specialties from Dungeness crab to West Coast oysters. That's what we like about San Francisco: it's up to the minute and still in the moment. ... more   less
