Great location! Close heaps of things - I walked a lot of places. Staff weren't overly friendly or accommodating on arrival (after flying 26 hours I needed to freshen up and change clothes but all one staff member seemed almost reluctant to show me where the bathroom was and just wanted to do was take my bag to the clock...

Great location. Hip decor. Happening bar. Great price. Very pleased with our experience at this hotel. It's a boutique hotel worth the risk. The noir inspired look is different than most. The hand crafted cocktails were great. Highly recommended.

Everything just meet 3 stars hotel standard but this place offer a very excellent and convenient location which just right next to Union Square, in the heart of SF. They don't have parking facility but opposite (just across the road) they have public parking lot so it is still convenient. We stay at Mystic Junior Room. The bed is comfortable...

I stayed a week in the Mystic and loved it. The location is great for exploring the city and being just uphill from Union Square means you can get almost anywhere on foot, providing you don't mind walking... There's a kind of jazz meets gothic feel to the corridors and breakfast area but it works fine. The lift is kind...

The hotel itself is lovely. Great staff, nice room, if a bit small, fab breakfast. Loved the morning breakfast sound track. Problem is sleeping. Hot blanket coupled with no air con. Window closed is loud let alone window open. Tough to get a good nights sleep.

I find myself frequently having to stay in downtown SF after entertaining clients, working late, or the like. Because of the broad choice of downtown accommodations, I like to know where I am staying and the quality of the accommodations before I spend my travel dollar. Having frequently seen this hotel in on line listings, I was curious as to...

Wonderful location, in the corner of Union Square, lots of restaurants and shops. You can go walking everywhere from here. The hotel is OK, expensive for how simple it is (I expected more), the service is OK, breakfast is OK and the worst thing is the noise, inside and outside the hotel. If it was a bit cheaper I would...

Not a bad choice, if you can tolerate a few relatively minor annoyances. Location is decent, in a somewhat seedy neighborhood a couple of blocks up from Union Square. Prices are lower than nearby competition, but nothing is "cheap" in downtown SF. Rooms are small, bathrooms are tiny with no place to put your stuff, but adequate. Third or fourth...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mystic Hotel Union Square San Francisco by Charlie Palmer is a smart, sleek retreat situated in the heart of the city's busiest neighborhoods. Conveniently located just one block from the iconic cable car line in the middle of three key destinations – Union Square, Chinatown and the Financial District — Mystic Hotel offers a convenient, comfortable and unique modern boutique hotel experience in a historic location. With a contemporary look and feel, our accommodations are designed to reflect the changing need of today's traveler. Enjoy high-touch service and an ideal Union Square location, perfect for travelers looking to experience all the adventures of San Francisco. Like a private club, enjoy handcrafted cocktails in the Burritt Room, the intimate film noir-inspired bar named for Burritt Alley, where detective Sam Spade's partner Miles Archer was gunned down in The Maltese Falcon. Then, step into the speakeasy vibe of renowned Chef Charlie Palmer’s adjoining Burritt Tavern, where walled-in and curtained booths create dark corners for private conversations and Executive Chef Luke Knox turns out classic food like steaks and chops done right. Knox also takes advantage of Bay area's tremendous green markets as well as the extraordinary offerings from local food artisans in menus built around prized regional specialties from Dungeness crab to West Coast oysters. That's what we like about San Francisco: it's up to the minute and still in the moment. ... more   less
