Stayed with family for 5 nights. They don't have an official hotel shuttle from the airport but not much of an issue since there are plenty outside of SFO. We checked in very late in the evening and were surprised to find that the bellhop was off. Normally not an issue but we were travelling for a long time and...

You were generous to provide so many of your experiences at our hotel. I agree with all of them. We absolutely must identify when families or parties of 4 are staying with us so that we can replenish the rooms accordingly. Thank you for picking our hotel.

Stayed here one night over a weekend in September. This hotel has a good location and a friendly staff. Bad restaurants attached to it, but that's not necessarily the fault of the hotel (though it reflects badly on the overall experience). Located close to Philz Coffee, which contains the best coffee I've ever had. One interesting thing happened, the power...

I definitely appreciate feedback from that night in September. The power failure took out the entire neighborhood for awhile. We opened up the stairwell for the guests that decided to walk up, but our response could have been better for those that decided to wait. I have begun to hear about Philz and will be sure to get down there...

We read the Trip Advisor reviews before choosing this hotel and made the choice based on location -- which is in a really great area of Nob Hill. The neighbourhood feels safe, there is excellent access to public transportation with the California line of the cable car just around the corner, and a good variety of restaurants in the area....

While it seems you enjoyed much of what we had to offer, the noise issues were memorable for all the wrong reasons. We try to accommodate guests whenever they request a change of rooms. I wish we could have worked out a better solution for you. Additionally, we always respond to noise complaints when we receive them. We do not...

This was a nice Hotel but I think was too far from Fishermans Wharf and Pier 33 for Alcatraz. Although there is good transport to get to these places from the Hotel, it can be more difficult if you have mobility problems with walking and getting on and off public transport. I got a taxi to Pier 33 and back...

You bring up a good point about mobility issues. The cable car, although it's just outside the hotel, can be difficult to climb into. The buses that run up and down Van Ness towards Fisherman's Wharf typically have easier stairs and come equipped with a lift. You're right though, the taxi's run about $10 to get anywhere in the city....

My wife & I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights - we had a spacious corner room on one of the higher levels & therefore had a fantastic view of San Francisco city & harbour. The room was very clean & well presented. We dined in the restaurant on a 2 ocassions - food was excellent. Hotel is within...

Great location. One block down is the trolley line. Hard to get back to late afternoon so luckily it is on the bus line!! Rooms were clean and roomy. You can purchase trolly passes at the girt shop. # day passes are worth it! Avoid the restaurant! There wasn't enough servers and the food left a lot to be desired....

I always recommend those trolley passes. They can be a great savings of money and trouble. No other hotel has a cable car so close without the long lines. Our restaurant manager will hear about your experience. Thank you.

We stayed here for the final 4 nights of our holiday before heading back to the UK. After all the motel and inn accomodation we had stayed in in the previous 2 weeks it was a pleasure to stay in a full facility hotel where you could get what ytou wanted without having to go miles to get it. It...

We found this to be an excellent choice. The room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff was very helpful from front desk to bellman to concierge. The California cable car is only steps from the front door. Breakfast is pricy but the Interlude lounge was nice. If coming to SF again we would definitely consider this as a...

I have moved on from LA to San Francisco on my Great Rail tour. Holiday Inn is just an ordinary hotel. There is nothing special in it. The only one advantage of the hotel is its location. You can literally walk to all popular places. However, the list of disadvantages is longer. My husband is a sensitive sleeper, so a street noise bothered him a lot. Also the hotel does not provide breakfast. Parking...

I wish the great location was enough to earn your return business. However, it is understandable given your concerns if that does not happen. The urban noise and parking rates are important elements to consider when staying in the city. Thank you for at least giving us a try.

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
