The Phoenix Hotel is my SF home away from home. I feel safe and comfortable being myself there and always have a good time. The rooms are modern and clean and quiet. The tenderloin has become a hunger games site so the street is a bit scary. No one ever bothered me tho, as a white femme presenting person, and the parking lot felt safe. I did walk locally in the day time and just navigated my route based on the local population.

Hotel's Favourite
For my Covid B-day I wanted to do something....but I wanted to stay close to home and I wanted to get into a fricking POOL. It's not my1st time at the Phoenix. I've been coming and staying for Pool parties since WET was hosted here. So I KNOW they have one of the only outdoor heated pools in the city. And I wanted THAT. And I wanted to be able to eat and drink without to much walking. The Phoenix checked ALL those boxes plus they have beds that don't send me home with backpain. That's always a plus!! We were there for Friday and Sat Night. We checked and had dinner at Chambers which was serving outdoors in courtyard with heat lamps, the wind walls and a DJ. It was very Supperclubish and the ALL the food and alll the drinks were on point! And our server was lovely. We went into the pool after dinner on Friday night, After soul food from Brenda's around the corner for Brunch the next day and Sunday morning before we checked out. We enjoyed the music that the DJ played on Sat night in the courtyard even though we were eating Chinese takeout from the Richmond. The atmosphere was lovely all weekend. Because let's face it-EVERY THING is better when there is a Good DJ!!! I tip my Tiara and my glass to the whole experience. And am seriously considering doing an expanded version for my B-day next year.

Hello 5star, You are just awesome!! You are truly one of the originals who have seen our hotel transform time and again. That fantastic collage of yours telling the story of our hotel over the years is nothing less than perfection! Let me know when you are thinking about coming back " home" so that we can have your very special room ready with everything you need. Happy Birthday!

I love this hotel. Driving up it can be a bit worrisome but as soon as you step into the very safe locked door it is like you are not even in the same location you just witnessed outside. I love the vibe and how clean and luxury it feels inside the hotel. And the staff is amazing and so sweet

I've always enjoyed staying at this hotel. Unfortunately the area is being besieged by drug users and sellers. I've never seen it so bad. If you don't know where you are going please be cautious. If you do know the area it's got so many advantages for eating / drinking / live entertainment that it's perfect. It is an oasis inside the grounds and very quiet for all of the action going on streetwise. The rooms are fine. Cool MCM vibe + rock n roll. The pool is great in warmer weather. Parking used to be included but now there's a charge for it although worth every penny. I'll stay again whenever I'm seeing live music at GAMH.

Hello Lydia, Thank you for taking the time to provide this review. With all the goings on in our neighborhood these days we make it a point to work extra hard to provide the comfort, security and laid back relaxing atmosphere that we are known for and all our guests enjoy. Our goal inside of our little oasis is to always make sure our guests can enjoy all we have to offer with little thought of the outside world. We appreciate you and certainly look forward to seeing your smiling face again soon. Happy holidays,

A pleasure like always. Treated like a rockstar, its a hidden Oasis in the hood. The staff is cool and definitely unique and always helpful, going as far as finding us a fridge on one occasion. Great place for photo shoots and the pool is amazing and there’s always some guests for random interesting conversation. Highly recommend, but be careful in the neighborhood.
