We visited The Redwood Inn during Fleet Week, last week. We were 3 middle age women, and did not want to spend the $600.00-700.00 / night that hotels in Fisherman's Wharf area were charging. The first encounter was my phone call to Paul, the manager. He was super helpful, and was able to accomadate the 3 of us quite comfortably...

We picked this hotel due to price, location and my parents had stayed before. It is very dated in decor and amenities but it was a lot less expensive than many other hotels in San Francisco, and when you just want somewhere clean to wash and sleep I'm not prepared to spend £250 per night! So this was a less...

We checked in around 7pm and were given the handicapped room on the second floor. It was terrible. It smelled heavily of cigarette smoke and was overall not in great condition. The seat in the shower was ripped and moldy with rusty staples sticking out of it. The person at the desk said they were full for the night (they...

Hotel was in great location and provided parking space. No breakfast included, however receptionist kindly provided pastries and cookies -- pleasant surprise with early morning departure to Muir Woods. Clean, but old.

There are at least 6 hotels around this one that all look better than this one. Almost all had vacancies and parking. This place needs to be refurbished and heavy traffic areas cleaned (like in the lobby and garbage/garage area! - which is where you enter). Bed wasn't comfortable. The rooms are small and mine was awkward (#14) so having...

Parking area is quite small...can be a challenge if you come in late at night and spaces are on the tight side. Walkway outside our rooms (4th/top floor) sort of leans away from the building so you always have a feeling of unease when walking along...not recommended for those with vertigo! The rooms themselves felt roomy enough. Had plenty of...

Hotels in San Francisco are expensive...we choose Redwood Inn because it was less expensive (although still not cheap), had wifi, and free parking, as well as in a good location. We loved those things; however, the room accommodations were not tremendous...leaky sink (so bad it required we put towels around the entire sink), bathtub did not drain at all, television...

Considering we were looking for a place to rest it was alright. Above our price range. The parking spots are small but nothing unexpected in California. Room was clean. The only complaint I had was they need instruction in the bathroom for the shower head. Would of been helpful if they would of mentioned it while checking in.

The room was clean and the furnishings were typical three star hotel. Refrigerator and coffee maker but no microwave. The “breakfast” was a collection of sweet rolls or plain croissants. The big plus is free parking. If you decide to do the Big Bus tour, they have a stop right across the street.

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
