We stayed in the Penthouse and it was great. So much room and awesome views of the city and wharf. Beds were comfortable. The staff was great. All in all a great place and time. Within walking distance of most bars and restaurants.

My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights at The Wharf Inn. Location is fantastic! Easy walking distance to all Wharf attractions. Room was small but clean. Bed was very comfortable. Free parking is a huge benefit. Since the room was small, the closet door blocked entrance into bathroom when open. No coffee in room but did provide in office. Biggest... More

The location of this hotel is wonderful if you want to see the city by foot. We parked at check in and traveled all over via public transportation. As much as I wanted to love the hotel, it is hard to. The staff was friendly, the bed was nice and new, but everything about the structure is dated. The bathroom... More

We stayed for two nights when visiting SF in late October. The hotel was easy to find and well located. Big plus was free parking. Check in was quick and smooth. We asked for a quiet room and our room was facing backyard so we had no problem with any street noise. The room and bathroom was dated, but was... More

built in 1959 and it shows a little, but the carpets and beds are new. the rooms have no AC, but are large and clean. Rates are the best in the area. staff at the front desk are very helpful. steps from Pier 39. Location couldn't be better. It is a little noisy, so up and away from the street... More

The price is right. The location is right. If you want fancier or newer rooms, then you're going to pay more. I could look over the railing and see the wharf only 1 1/2 blocks away. Considering that you're only sleeping and showering in the place, why spend more? This is considered a budget motel. We felt secure, the service... More

This hotel/motel is in a very nice location in fisherman's wharf. There was a view of the ocean from the balcony. Staff was nice and efficient. The bed was good. Both room and the building is rather aged, I guess the interior is from the 80s. But aged in a good way. All was well cleaned. One bad this is... More

Our party of 4 stayed 3 nights in October. The room prices were incredibly high due to a huge software convention being held with 150,000 people visiting the city! The position of the hotel on Fishermans Warf was as expected however, that area has now become exceedingly seedy, with homeless, beggars, drunks and un-savoury people constantly milling close by. The morning... More

We really enjoyed our stay at the Wharf Inn! It was close to everything. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We requested a room on the backside of the hotel so noise was not a problem for us. Very thankful for the free parking!

San Francisco, California, United States

Here are a few tips for this hotel.

1. No, They do not have A/C at this hotel. The reason for this is simple. Older places like this were built without. We are not the only hotel in San francisco that doesn't have it. You might need to check as the weather in SF is generally cool if not cold with a few days in the 80's per year but those are rare.

2. The hotel is only pet friendly to an extent. If you bring a pet and the 4 rooms that actually allows them are not available then you might get turned away. The reason for this is that anytime there is a pet in a room, that room needs to be closed for 3 days and can not be sold. Please make sure you call the hotel and check. And no, there is no grassy area at all. The place was not built to be a pet friendly facility. It only is because so many people are adamant on bringing their pets on vacation. The other thing is, that if you do bring a pet with you, that pet can not be left unattended anywhere on the property. This includes in your room, or in your car. If you leave the property, the animal must go with you. Also, there is a 25$ fee per pet per night. There is a limit of 2 pets and must be under 40lbs.

3. Parking: There are 39 spaces to 51 rooms. If you bring 2 cars with you and want to park them both, that unfortunately can't happen. The motel allows 1 car per room. If the lot is full you can still get free parking but...you will be double parked somewhere that isn't actually a parking space and the front desk will be required to take your keys. this is only in the cases of moving you into a spot should one come open, or moving your vehicle to let someone out that you are blocking in.

4. It is an older place. It is more of a motel. It opened in 1960. so its not a brand new place. However, the new owners are slowly working on upgrading it. Most of the rooms have gotten new furniture and mattresses in the last 2 months. The rooms are very basic. There again is no a/c. No fridges or microwaves. If you want a fridge you will need to book the Penthouse suite as it has a full kitchen. The other thing is that you might see a room on one of the online booking sites that shows a sofa in the room. There is a total of 2 rooms in the facility that has one. If that's what you want, you need to put in a request for it, though there is still not any guarantee you will get it. The motel does not guarantee that any requests you make will be met.

5. , if you make a reservation for a King size bed, and then check in wanting a room with 2 queen beds. We can't guarantee that will have that for you. If you want a room with a balcony, then that is what you will need to book as it is a separate room type from a King. Early check ins may or may not be able to be met and an . Again, you may request anything you wish, but the hotel can not guarantee any request. your best bet is to always call the hotel either during or after your reservation and see what is possible and what is not.

6. IF YOU WANT TO GET TO ALCATRAZ, book your tour several weeks in advance or you may not get in at all.
