I was a bit skeptical about booking this hotel because of reviews mentioning foul odor, mold, etc. After weeks of research I booked it mainly because my husband and I were not interested in a 5-star hotel; we knew we would spend most of our time doing touristy stuff-since it was our first time in San Francisco-and just wanted a...

The hotel is in a fabulous location - a very short walk to Union Square and right on the tram line to go to fishermans wharf. Chinatown, little Italy all only a short walk away. We didn't have any expectations so were quite impressed actually. There is a convenience shop across the road and a full mini bar and fridge...

This hotel was wedged into the block. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Because of an issue on the Bay Bridge we didn't arrive until 6 PM - right at the end of their wine reception. They made sure we had a glass of wine we could take up to our room with us. This is an older hotel...

I decided to come to San Francisco for Bay to Breakers this year, and had a pretty nice stay. The room rate was a bit high for what I'm used to but I guess that's how things are during high season. Be ready for parking fees folks, as it is up there. It's not the most affordable, but not the...

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights as part of a tour of America. The hotel exterior, lobby and lounge are very clean and tidy and portray a very well kept and comfortable hotel. The staff are welcoming, polite and helpful and every afternoon from 5pm to 6pm there is free wine in the lobby where you can meet...

Not a bad hotel but definitely vintage! It's in need of a revamp to modernise and there is some definite wear and tear - especially in the bathroom where there is mould on the walls from the steamy bathrooms. Apart from that it's clean, safe and comfortable enough to stay for a few days. It's a couple of blocks from...

Perfect location to walk to shopping, North Beach or to catch a cable car. The staff makes you feel like you are visiting a good friend. They are courteous without being overbearing. Oh and you can't miss out on the daily wine hour. A great way to start off your evening before going out to dinner.

The Executive Hotel Vintage Court is a small hotel near union square in San Francisco. It has a lot of historic and period details in the lobby, hallways and guest rooms. Service was great. Vincent Urbain, who took our reservations over the phone was very professional and courteous. He was also most helpful in subsequent calls regarding parking and amenities....

I have stayed here a few times already, and have enjoyed my stay. Vincent has taken my reservation over the phone several times, and has been very helpful with all the required details. The hotel's location in an excelent central location so you can do many activities while staying here. This stay involved going to a San Francisco Giants game....

You will get a bit of a workout when walking from the hotel and Union Square and back, but just think of the amazing legs you're going to get out of it! And hey, this is San Fran, if walking up steep hills is not your thing, try Amsterdam. We stayed here in San Fran for three nights in King...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
As the oldest in North America, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic experience. A unique neighbourhood decorated with colourful shops, historic streetlights, hanging lanterns, and pagoda roofs awaits behind the stone-carved dragon gates. Feast on dim sum at the tea houses, or meet the locals who gather at historic Portsmouth Square to play chess or practice Tai Chi. Fish markets, produce stands, tourist shops, jewelry stores, fortune tellers, temples and restaurants come together to create a world unto itself in this historic neighbourhood.
