A very nice hotel at the heart of the city. Staff are very accommodating as well. The room though is too small for my taste. Not comparable to a Shargri-La or Manila Peninsula. But will definitely go back here when I visit SFO again.

The service was abhorrent. We would walk up to the entrance and there would be three employees talking and no one opening the door for us and this happened every time. We circled the block three times before finding entrance because they didn't post a sign for parking. Rooms are small for the money. Very dated hotel. Staff was rude... More

I recently attended a conference at the W San Fran, while unusual for many business conferences for a health innovation conference it was just right. There were lots of spaces to have conversations and a great roof top terrace. The staff were friendly and helpful and the place was very clean. Nice job W staff!

Let me first start by saying... I have tons of experience with W hotel chain, and I LOVE them. They are my preference for hotels. I have stayed in NY, LA, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Boston, Puerto Rico, DC, Chicago... Theyre all beautiful locations, and I thought I loved all the W hotels.... Until my stay at the SAN FRANSISCO location.... More

We had a glitch with our reservation and as a result did not get the room we expected. The fault was with the Starwood Platinum Service Desk, not with the hotel. Upon our arrival, the hotel staff made enormous effort to fix the issue. In particular, Hao Banh, operation talent coach, made sure we are as comfortable as it was... More

Bearing in one that we paid about a third of the rack rate for this hotel, even so we were somewhat disappointed in the level service received. To clarify, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was also good. The room was relatively spacious, and we had a great view over towards to the Bay Bridge. However, the room... More

I only stayed one night last week (Monday) but the hotel was beautiful; the hotel staff was polite and helpful; and it is a great location to get anywhere in the city. On a personal service note, I was having trouble keying the elevator to my room floor and a Reception Desk employee walked me all the way to the... More

Rather than tell a story here I just want to list the reasons why I will use this hotel again and again when returning to San Francisco: * Great sized rooms with cool little touches that give this pretty large hotel more of a Boutique feel. Be sure to get a room facing the Bay Bridge for great Sunrise views.... More

We were here for a quick overnight stay in San Francisco, so did not get to use a lot of the amenities, and our son booked this with his Starwood points, so I can't compare hotel prices/value. That said, the room was clean, very quiet and the bed was so great we didn't wake up till 9:30 a.m.! The decor... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
