My husband and I have just spent four nights at this BLM campground in mid March of this year. We arrived about 10am on a week day and found quite a few sites to choose from. I suspect that especially between March-Sept., the campground fills up most nights. but quite a few people leave early in the morning and since...

We got to Moab on memorial Day weekend with other families. We like to stay at Horse Thief. It is our first pick. It is quiet, the boys run around as a pack and after a day of playing it is nice to come back to someplace not loud and wild. there is an occasional truck and someone fires up...

We were advised to stay here while visiting Moab when we couldn't find a campground anywhere else. We were told it hardly fills up, but we got the last spot for the night! The sites were large and semi-private. The pit toilets were very clean. Being up at a high elevation meant we had a constant breeze and I didn't...

Great spot to stay! We went with our two little ones hiking at Zion! Scenery is one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen in our lives. Views are breathtaking!! Gets pretty hot hot hot tho! We had a trailer, thank goodness AC!!! This wasn't our first trip here!! It's a must go at LEAST once.....

We were in the Moab area on a weekday a few days after Labor Day to go mountain biking at Dead Horse Point State Park. We assumed "high season" was over and had not made a reservation at the park; the state park was full and the ranger at the entrance station encouraged us to check out Horsethief Campground. I'm...

Well spaced sites with basic facilities (fire pit and bench/table). Great views over the plain, choose your site heading to sunset. Quite centrally located if you want to explore Canyonlands and Dead Horse Point. Good value and fair price. Very friendly staff.

If you haven't made reservations somewhere , this is probably your best bet. This is a basic BLM campground but was pleasant place to stay for four days while we explored Canyonlands and visited Moab. We had stayed in a commercial camp-site just south of Moab and should have gone straight to Horsethief in hindsight! It is very difficult to...

We stayed at this campground for two nights and enjoyed the solitude from the hustle and bustle. No water or hookups but sites are nice and spacious. Each site does have a picnic table and a fire pit. The sites are relatively level. If you are going to hike in the area, you will be driving. The hiking trail and...

A group of friends camped here for our weekend trip to Moab. We knew that a lot of camping sites would be full, even when we were arriving mid-day on a Thursday. We were right. Horsethief Campground was a pleasant surprise. It is bare bones, very clean vault toilets, some running water and a little bit of a drive to...

We had wanted to camp at Dead Horse State Park but it was by reservation only and all sold out! Bummer...So we checked out the close by BLM campgrounds.."Cowboy Camp" was just a little (husbands opinion) too rustic....My opinion. Way too rustic! So we ended up at "Horsethief Campground"...We thought $15.00 nightly for no water, pit toilets only, and trash...
