Accompanied by 21 other men from church, we stayed 3 nights in the group campground that is situated in a beautiful, rugged location, yet still offers a couple of nice amenities. For those not wanting to sleep under the stars there is a lodge, but we enjoyed the camp-out, rocks and all. It took some heavy blows from my hammer...

Luckily we only stayed one night here, because we were traveling w an infant and I was afraid any cry might disturb the neighbors. The camp host was extremely friendly and willing to help. The sites, unfortunately, were simply too close to one another and extremely small slots. There was no parking, so we sort of took up room in...

My family camped here three nights and went on Chiso Basin Loop trail, Window trail, Lost Mine trail and Emory Peak trail. Trail heads were either accessible by foot from the campground or about 5 minute drive from the campground. We did park by the Chiso Basin Store couple times to get ice cream bars and chocolate milk...yum! Anyway, view...

We just did a 3 night stay at this campsite and we were in love. Tent camped on site 48 which is perfect, especially if you have younger kids because it is right next to a bathroom. This site is also a little more secluded which is nice. Couple of things, no showers and no campfires allowed. There is a...

Chisos Basin is beautiful! If, like us, however, you are (A) visiting in the winter and (B) sleeping in a tent (not an RV/trailer), I would highly recommend camping at Rio Grande Village over the Chisos campground (approx 45 min drive away). Most campsites at Chisos are very close together with no barriers between sites, although some of them on...

I visited this beautiful part of the USA in June, 2016, & I'm glad I stayed there before The Wall will be built. The hikes were spectacular overlooks. This will be spoiled with an unnecessary and ugly monstrosity by someone who has never visited the Park. Get there before this atrocity happens! My sympathies go to the Park rangers who...

The Chisos Campground has unique topography enveloping campers in the basin whichever way is faced. In terms of views from just outside the tent this campground is in a different league than my usual fare. Most camp sites I've frequented are a cheap means to hitting a trail early and coming back in the dark to sleep; repeat the next...

I've camped at Chisos Basin a couple times now and am in love! Close to the trail head for South Rim and the Window trail, and absolutely beautiful to wake up to. My only complaint is that on each occasion there have been rowdy fellow campers nearby, and if you are unlucky enough to have your tent right next to...

This was my first time staying in this campground. I really appreciated having flushing toilets and a dish washing sink at this campground. I noticed a sign saying the campground did not have any sites as I drove into the basin but I decided to risk it and found about 10 open sites. That was a Wednesday night at the...

We planned to camp at Chisos Basin and in Big Bend Ranch State Park. On our long drive in, we called Chisos Basin to see how likely it would be for us to get a site (Sunday night). They only had a message that said they were rarely full except for holiday weekends. We reached the park and had to...

“Um, it's not a hotel - it's a campground. So there is no service and the sleep quality depends on your camping gear.”
