We loved our two night stay at the Sourwood Inn. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the balcony overlooking the mountains was a wonderful place to read and unwind. We ate dinner both nights at the Inn, and the food was imaginative and excellent (even for the vegetarian in our group.) The breakfasts are also hearty, homemade, and delicious: eggs, fresh-baked muffins, fresh fruit, homemade granola, an interesting Asian vegetable casserole, pancakes, etc. Great hiking on the site and a short drive away, and beautiful downtown Asheville is less than 10 miles from the Inn.
We visit Sourwood Inn every year for our anniversary (except 2020 thanks to Covid.) New owners Connie and Proal have done a great job keeping the Sourwood experience so special. Greeted with 2 glasses of sparkling wine and a personalized box of chocolate, we knew our week would be amazing. Breakfast chef Anh is a true delight, and she went above and beyond to accommodate our vegetarianism. Dinner chef Casey (I am hoping this is correct) presented us with a tremendous anniversary meal of Salmon cooked in a Mediterranean style. We were the only ones dining that evening and yet, Connie and Proal ensured our service was top notch. We are already booked for this fall for a return visit! (Trip Advisor doesn’t seem to cooperate with my photo gallery so I will post to Sourwood’s Facebook page.) Sourwood Inn - comparable price to nice hotels, but so much better! Try them!…
My husband and I have visited Sourwood a total of 4 times now! That's been over a 20 year period! We've enjoyed it so much each time! The bed was super comfy and the private fireplace, is just perfect! We have loved visiting in the winter time, just for those private fireplaces! Beautiful scenery off of our private balcony! It is very secluded way up a top a gorgeous mountain, but they do have WiFi! Be sure to dine in with them in the evenings. The chef is amazing! The food was absolutely top notch! Delicious from start to finish! Finish the evening soaking in their amazing tubs! Has a stunning view from the big picture window over the tub. It's one of our favorite places to escape to. We look forward to returning soon.
Owners are wonderful people dedicated to making sure their guests are happy. Wonderful rustic getaway, but they have WiFi. Gorgeous setting, well maintained hiking trails. A very fun drive up the mountain to get there. Only 25 minutes to downtown Asheville, but a whole world away.
This is our second time visiting sourwood inn. A friend raved about it six months ago and it’s really a hidden gem. I have to admit I’m not the most romantic man in the world but booking a room here made it easy. First each room has a private balcony over looking the mountains. The staff already took care of setting up a fire so all you need to do is light the match. They also have candles around the giant bathtub looking out over those same mountains. To top it off they have an amazing restaurant that serves a three course meal. All I did was pick the wine. There’s really no reason to leave the site. They have great trails that take you past a coi pond and plenty of benches to stop along the way. We also enjoyed heading down to the game room after dinner for some pool and darts. Add to it the incredible staff this place makes any guy look like he planned the perfect romantic getaway.…
