My boyfriend and I stayed at The Gilded Lily for 3 nights in the heart of the summer season. The B&B is a beautifully restored Victorian row house on a quiet residential street in the South End where the street parks and lawns are maintained by local residents. Our host Jimmy couldn't be more gracious and gave us numerous suggestions... More

I just returned from 3 days at the Gilded Lily in Boston and I can't remember when I had a more enjoyable stay at a B&B. The rooms are bright and spacious with a calming decor. It was a treat to climb into bed with fresh sheets and blankets after a day of sightseeing and to awake in the morning... More

I stayed at the Gilded Lily with my husband two weeks ago. I wanted to say that the place is awesome, clean, and absolutely beautiful. The service is amazing too, and the owner is such a nice and gentle man who's always willing to help you with anything that you might need. I definitely recommend this place to anyone that... More

My sister and I just spent a weekend at The Gilded Lily and were very pleased with the accommodations. We arrived Friday evening, left Sunday morning, and never actually saw anyone else in the place though it appeared all of the rooms were occupied. It is all self-serve, from "check-in" to breakfast to departure so it was pretty easy-going. We... More

Jim greets you with a medley of Boston facts and places of interest. Efficient operation, convenient location to the T. Our visit was primarily the North End with a side trip to the Theater District. We will return to Boston and definitely book a room at The Gilded Lili. Mary Ellen and Matt Pace

My father and I stayed at this lovely B&B 2 nights in late June. James has created a comfortably luxurious atmosphere, where we immediately felt at home. He was generous with his time, providing us with a great overview of the city so we were able to hit many high points during our short stay. Thank you, James!

Faceless check-in. Nice neighborhood. Clean, stylish, room with all the amenities. Stocked kitchen for all your breakfast needs. If you have any issues, no worries the owners are on the first floor and ready to help. Will stay here again on our next visit to Boston.

The Gilded Lily is a beautifully renovated Victorian row house in a nice neighborhood. It includes four rooms, two each on the second and third floors. It is unusual for a B&B, since it includes well-stocked kitchen areas between each set of rooms. Guests are able to prepare their own breakfasts (cereal, bagels, croissants, etc.) and eat in the privacy... More

Having always imagined staying in a Boston brownstone, the opportunity finally presented itself, and it was more than wonderful! First, the neighborhood feel (because it IS a neighborhood) was hands down more appealing than so many of the large hotels we've used in Boston in the past. We were so pleased to spend a bit of time speaking with James... More

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
