I recently stayed at the Ames for a second time, and again, was not disappointed. The service was still great! We arrived early and our room wasn't ready so they held our luggage for us and said they would phone us when the room was ready. The room was clean and comfortable as expected, had a decent view (but does...

My husband and I went to Boston to celebrate his 50th bday and our hotel was great! Comfy bed, gracious staff and amazing view! We will stay here next time. Oh and 4 Starbucks within a block, which we were into.

A sweet, short stay. One night. Walking distance to the North End. Well situated on the green line. Thoughtful staff. Comfy beds. Immaculate rooms. Cool enough looking even for my teen daughter and her BFF. Pride weekend helped make the stay even more fun. A ideal launch point for Cambridge and Wellesley.

Although we've been to Boston numerous times, we'd never seen the Ames Hotel. There's no signage and no identification. In fact, the biggest complaint we heard from guests is they had circled the block numerous times looking for it and passed it equally as many times. We did, too. Located in one of Boston's historic buildings, this boutique hotel can...

We wanted to try a unique place to stay, so we chose the Ames Hotel, right near Faneuil Hall, designed into the first skyscraper ever built in Boston. The décor is thoroughly modern throughout, which we enjoyed; it is so different from our 100 year old home! Even the mini-bar was thoroughly modern. Mixed in amongst the requisite bottles of...

What a great location! Extremely close to 2 subway stations, right in the financial district- quincy market, the commons, all within close walking distance. Couldn't of asked for a better location. As for the hotel, we stayed there for 4 nights, very modern and clean in the room. It's spacious and yes it is a bit noisy at night from...

Prior to our visit we received an email from Ames saying their F&B service was not operating, they provided a small refund (as breakfast was included in our prepaid rate), but it did not seem comparable to the amount breakfast would cost. When we arrived, the decor and reception was nice. Our room was spacious, modern and clean, but very...

Very cool hotel right in the heart of Downtown Boston. Just a block from Fenuil Hall, the Financial District and hundreds of restaurants, bars and attractions. There is no better location in Boston. The valet is on top of things and had my luggage inside before I even made it out of the cab. Checkin was quick and staff were...

I am just traveling back to NYC from my stay in Boston and at the Ames. I have stayed there before, but have ALWAYS preferred the Fairmont - which was booked. I am still fuming and wish I had read TripAdvisor before booking my room. The restaurant is closed completely. This means, no bar, no restaurant. AND - there used...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
