I have never written a review of a hotel before, or any business for that matter, but the Royalton achieved such a degree of poor quality that I was inspired to write. Please do yourself a huge favor and do NOT stay at this hotel. I booked a room for a business trip and left an hour after checking in....

I have very mixed, but overall negative, feelings about this hotel. The location is great, Newbury street is attractive and the hotel is very close to the Heynes Convention Center and the underground station. There is a small but adequate Italian (super)market just across the street (with a nice wine cellar). My room – I was on the top floor...

The hotel (hostel) is in a very nice area of Boston, the problem is that the price is so high (320 dollars/night) that you don't expect to enter in such a messed up room! The check-in is at 15 (when every other hotels are ready maximum at 12) when you get inside the room you realized that you would spend...

I was booked here for two nights but stayed for only one, I would not have stayed for one night but I arrived late at night from a transatlantic flight. The hotel (hostel is more accurate) is very run down, the staff all seam to be students, the rooms whilst admitedly quite large (I stayed in no 7) are very...

This is an older building and makes moving around to 'wherever you want to go' without driving quite easy. There are lots of lovely lively eateries in the vicinity. The property itself is well, older. There is no lift so try being a 65++ International travellor and luggin gyour bags up to the top floor. We had a wonderful feel...

Stayed here one night on the top floor. There were no blinds on the ceiling window and insufficient blinds on windows. The light came through strong from 5am making it impossible to sleep. room was clean and spacious, night staff was difficult to communicate with and slow to get us checked in. Front door of hotel is locked at night...

Somehow in my hotel searching, this came up as a great boutique to stay. So I booked it for a business trip. When I arrived, they had gotten the date of my PRE-PAID reservation wrong and were overbooked and out of rooms of the type I booked. They did offer me a "twin" - when they showed it to me,...

This is a house "converted" (in the loosest sense of the word) into a hotel. Rooms are extremely badly soundproofed, furnishings are the sort of thing you would have proudly bought in your first home. And as Cliff G pointed out, no restaurant/bar or elevators to get your luggage to your rooms. So if you want quirky, what-is-it-like-to-live-in-Boston experience, go...

Far more expensive than a similar size room in NYC. No parking near the hotel, and surprise: cash only! Pillows were awful, no phone to the front desk. No elevator. Was awoken numerous times, the first at 11:45 am by loud voices in the next room. When we yelled to quiet down, a voice yelled back "I'm the night manager...

My family spent the night at the Royalton Suites on New Year's Eve. It was the prfect location for all the First Night celebrations in Boston. I loved that the rooms were so different and the architecture was really nice. My sister was upgraded to the nicest Suite #10, it was huge and beautiful. We loved bringing in the new...

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
