This is a small boutique hotel. It is in a nice location steps from the metro. The nightlife in the area is quiet, as it is more commercial, but the hotel bar was busy and serves excellent cocktails. I'm sure the summer months are a bit more lively. The room was very modern, but very small, which I was fine...

The hotel is in a great location; I was surprised how reasonably priced it was. Our room was very quiet and clean. Some would consider it small, but it had a lot of shelves and drawers under the bed to store items. The bed was very comfortable. The bath towels were large and fluffy. Having poor eye sight, my only...

This place is perfect for a get away. A free breakfast and wifi in a perfect location. We were in a bind as the hotel I had booked on hotels.com was the wrong date. We arrived and the hotels.com folks found the Charlesmark. We walked over and Katheryn was amazing. She upgraded our room as long as we didn't need...

Only had one night at this place. Not delighted to have to drag heavy luggage down steps, up steps, down steps, up steps, to get to (and from) my basement room, supposedly one of the best the hotel has. I have read some other reviews of this hotel and maybe I had bad luck. The TV didn't work, the room...

I stayed at the Charlesmark Hotel for 2 nights in September 2016. From check in to check out the staff were amazing and friendly. I got upgraded rooms which I really appreciated. I was travelling alone and never felt unsafe or unwelcome. The reception staff, housekeeping, bar staff were all incredibly friendly, saying hi etc. The hotel is situated right...

Great location on Boylston Street. It was across the street from the Boston Public library. A short walk from the Boston Back Bay Amtrak station (about 5 blocks) and less than a block to the Green line station. It's a quirky little hotel. The staff was helpful for getting around Boston. Rooms were compact and clean. The breakfast was a...

I stayed at the Charlesmark Hotel for 2 nights while visiting Boston and absolutely loved the location. It is right in the heart of the city, extremely close to several popular attractions, shops, restaurants and T stations. However, for the price I paid the rooms were extremely small and the bed not very comfortable.

I was going to stay here for four nights while visiting my Mom for the holidays. I'd visit her in the daytime then come back here and enjoy a bit of downtown at night. The 3 good things: 1) great location right by Copley Square, 2) great bar w/fun crowd on the first floor and 3) price can't be beat....

I hate to even tell more people about this place, because it was such a great experience and I'm afraid they'll lose their coolness if they get even more popular. The rooms are small, so expect that from the start. They make up for it by being so well-designed! They are artsy, whimsical, and high-tech. Mine had jazz playing when...

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
