Stayed here for a family vacation. Pros: - enjoyed the modern, boutique feel - clean, comfy rooms - great roof top pool and bar - lots of restaurants in the area Cons: - pricey parking - better for business travelers or couples - pricey on-site restaurant Good launching point for downtown activities. Not close to the beach. Nice hotel but...

Thank you justinrchan not only for choosing us for your recent stay but for taking time to write about it. It sounds like you had a very nice stay and I'm glad you enjoyed your rooftop/pool experience. Parking is pricey in San Diego but we do offer packages at times that include discounts on valet parking as well as other...

We booked 3 rooms for a 6 night stay over New Years . One of the rooms assigned to us was a virtuoso suite 717. Upon opening the door we were hit with the smell in this room. It was horrible. We tried to open the window at first to air it out. But this didn't help as the windows...

Dear Annthereistood – first off, please accept my sincerest apologies for the seemingly disappointing visit you experienced to our property to ring in the new year. It sounds like we got close to your expectations with the friendliness of our team, location and wine/beer reception each evening but definitely failed to impress from a rooming standpoint. I would love to...

Have stayed at many Kimptons and although this was not my favorite Kimpton property, the location is great and the staff is awesome as i have found in all Kimpton properties. Erik at the front desk was most welcoming! Walking distance to all the action in the gas lamp district, convention center, waterfront and Petco Park.

We stayed here on 2 separate one night stays and had a great experience each time. Check in was efficient and friendly. Hotel felt modern/newer with well appointed, comfortable rooms. All staff was friendly. Good location right in heart of gaslamp. We would stay again!

Let's just say we landed here because of two things... 1) terrible experience at the Hilton 2) great reviews on Trip Advisor We are thrilled!! On our "Pacific Coast Highway" honeymoon, we stayed here during the trip. The service, rooms, attention to detail and excitement and encouragement of us being newlyweds made us feel so special! Great Kimpton property. Amazing service, beautifully decorated rooms, comfy bed, charging stations, and huge Samsung TV. We easily walked to nearby restaurants and coffee shops in the Gaslamp Quarter. Only complaint would be the $47/night parking fee. We avoided this by parking our rental in a garage two blocks down the street ($15 overnight, but no in and out privileges).

Thank you so much for writing such kind things about the team, décor and amenities! While I’m so happy to hear that your experience was so wonderful I am sorry you found the parking to be too pricey. While our parking prices are in line with the other hotels in San Diego, I know that it can be quite expensive....

The location is why I had to give Solamar a 4 (otherwise a 3.5). That and the free nightly happy hours! It was so wonderful to just walk to dinner and drinks nearby and enjoy the bustling Gas Lamp scene. The lobby and common areas are beautiful and the rooms are modern. Bathrooms are spacious but the room itself felt...

My one gripe - I couldn't find a free power plug to charge my phone. I resorted to the bathroom plug, but it wasn't convenient. Until I was ready to hit the hay, and I lay down in bed, there it was. Brilliant placement - right next to the bed. But until I was laying in the bed, the color...

The service is marvelous of course. The handsome staff never allow a line to form, empathetically and efficiently respond to needs and indicate an awareness of guest presence at all times.
