Being an International conference planner, I book hotels frequently. When I looked into Solamar hotel, their amazing sales manager, MarQuies Willis, was nothing but exceptional. He was patient, cooperative, enthusiastic, factual, patient and flexible. He worked with me like no other hotel sales manager ever has. He not only exceeded my expectation but he made it difficult for other hotel...

We stayed at the Solamar for a few days. My husband had work meetings and we thought we'd tag on a family trip. We didn't actually pick the hotel, the company did for my husband. First I'd like to say, the staff is very nice and accommodating. They do work hard to make you happy. The decor is really trendy....

We just checked out of this hotel and wanted to compliment the Hotel Solamar on such a well run business. Every employee we had any contact with was unbelievably professional, friendly and helpful. The housekeeper on our floor (9) was especially friendly and kind. Her name was Shearrie and she is an asset to this business. She truly went the...

This was a good hotel right in the centre of the action in San Diego a wonderful city to visit We had a good corner room, a little bit dated and the lighting could have been a bitbetter. Very good, friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. For only $10 extra you could upgrade to an excellent and full breakfast professionally...

The hotel location is convenient for access to the airport, harbor, shopping and many dining options. The area is very walkable and the rooms are nicely appointed with distinctive features -pocket door to bathroom, interesting mirror and light fixtures, plush towels, bathrobes, excellent wifi. King sized bed was a bit firm but overall the room was very comfortable and quiet.

The Solamar was located perfectly downtown, especially for the convention center. Located in the GasLamp district you are close to a multitude of bars and restaurants. The hotel has a decent lobby. The 4th floor rooftop bar and pool are very nice. They have cabanas as well if you want to marinate out of the sun. The gym is small...

This hotel was great and comfortable. The beds are on the harder side. The staff is great and service great. Great hotel to stay in right downtown San Diego as you can walk to most locations in the gaslamp district.

San Diego is a great city and Kimpton/IHG are great hotel brands. But the Solamar hotel is not worthy of the label. Location is good but this is pretty much the only positive feature. During our stay, it became clear that the local management's priority is revenue from the 4th floor rooftop bar and private functions rather than the comfort...

Shannon F, General Manager at Kimpton Solamar Hotel, responded to this review

Dear sgm1– first off, please accept my sincerest apologies for the pool deck not having been available for use on Saturday afternoon/evening due to the wedding taking place out there. I certainly understand the frustration with that being unavailable and then we topped off that frustration with loud music playing on the deck. I would love to talk through your...

MarQuies Willis, the Sales Manager @ Hotel Solamar, suggested we stay at Solamar. I am so grateful he did! Solamar is not only in the heart of downtown SD, but an absolutely beautiful hotel with great decor, a relaxing rooftop pool as well as welcoming staff that will take care of all your needs. You are on vacation from the...

Every time I visit San Diego I stay at the Solamar, the location is great, literally never get in an uber; everything is walking distance. I am always pleased with the staff, they are friendly and welcoming. One of my favorite perks of the hotel is that they are dog friendly, we have yet to bring our puppies but will...
