This is easily the most charming place to stay in the area with excellent rooms for families. All of the rooms have exposed wood-beam ceilings and there are excellent toiletries in the bathrooms. Great restaurant on site and you can walk to the visitors center and canyon

When we booked a room here for our recent exploration of Canyon de Chelley (a magical, much-loved place), we had great memories of a stay here many years ago with our young daughters. However the rates were so low we wondered if the quality we remembered (simple, clean, warm rooms; good food in the cafeteria, welcoming Navajo staff) might have...

A nice comfortable lodging right next to the start of the South Rim drive of the Canyon de Chelly. So, really, you are very very close to the canyon itself and we feel that it is just awesome and this is why you should stay here instead of one of the chain hotels that are further away. Room is large...

Stayed when it was Sacred Canyon Lodge cabins last December 2015, now see that it is all the Thunderbird Lodge. Rustic, warm when below zero outside, next to Trading Post and Navajo Restaurant with great authentic native cuisine. Very good time there.

This is a nicely run clean comfortable bargain of a hotel/motel just off the south rim road. Not a chain which I think helps the local economy more People are friendly- bed was comfy- the toilet Bowl needed to be scrubbed- but overall the room was clean. They even had the heat on for me

If you are going to Canyon de Chelly (and you should) you have three choices of a place to stay...two chain motels in Chinle, AZ, for about $100, or the Thunderbird Lodge on the Park property for about half that. Frankly I was a bit concerned about the low cost of the room and the quality we could get. Trip...

We stayed here to overnight before visiting Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley. The hotel is in a very nice location close to Canyon de Chelly. The price is very reasonable. The staff are friendly. The room we stayed in was old, but clean. It was a cold night and we had to run the heating unit all night to...

Pretty awesome off season stay. Priced right. Right on South Rim Drive. Staff on point. No pushy sales on anything. So many sites to see. 4 to 5 days needed to do all the trails & tours. Lodge restaurant 3 out of 5. A bit pricey but it's right on site.

Stayed here for one night close to Canyon de Chelly NP. It looks a little dejected from the outside, but the rooms are lovely and spacious but cosy, with everything you might need. Comfortable bed, coffee machine in the room, free wifi. Good value. There is a cafe/restaurant next door, though I didn't try it out. They also run tours...

I have three criteria for the hotels I review. The first is location; second comes cleanliness; third comes aesthetics and efficiency. The Thunderbird passes the first and second with flying colors, but the third got slightly below average marks. In a place like this, to be sure, no one is going to spend much time inside a hotel room! But...
