Nestled close to Grand Central Station, EVEN Hotel New York - Midtown East draws praise for its strategic location and contemporary atmosphere. Guests appreciate the modern amenities, including in-room fitness equipment, and the overall cleanliness of the hotel. While the value is recognized for its balance of cost and convenience, some guests have concerns over additional charges.
The rooms are seen as clean and secure but can vary in terms of size and noise levels. Service experiences are mixed, with commendations for staff friendliness tempered by reports of occasional rudeness.

Totally renovated hotel a few steps from Grand Central Station on 44th not far from Times Square but still very quiet. A couple of French chains nearby for breakfast and/or lunch or dinner. Inside the station there is a market where you can find food at "New York" but more affordable prices.
Regarding the hotel:
we had a Queen room without breakfast on the 15th floor;
the staff is very courteous and friendly, they don't speak a word of Italian but we understand each other anyway;
the rooms are renovated, without carpet, not very large but not small and equipped with wardrobe and desk;
cleaning is daily as is linen change, air conditioning is adjustable;
the bed was comfortable with great pillows;
there is a hairdryer as well as an electric coffee maker with everything you need to make a coffee or tea in the room;
there is also a minibar.
Access to the hotel is from street level and the reception is located on the 2nd floor;
you will be given the magnetic key which you must bring with you because it will allow you to enter from the outside and use the lifts to go directly to the floor where your room is located. In the reception as well as on some of the hotel floors there are free water dispensers.
For 7 nights we paid a tax fee of 25 dollars per night.

Hotel's Favourite
The EVEN is conveniently located near Grand Central Terminal -- 5 minutes to the subway, plus easy in and out of the city if arriving via LGA or JFK. It's modern, clean, and super-quiet (which is a rarity in midrange hotels in the city). The basic room isn't exactly spacious, but it's larger than those of many boutique hotels in the city.
The hotel includes a lot of nice little touches, including a yoga mat in the room and a modern breakfast/bar/pantry area that is a comfortable gathering space. I would stay here again.

This hotel is an excellent base for a trip to New York City. The room is in a good location and easily accessible by public transport and when walking. The check in process was quick and easy and the staff at reception were helpful when we had queries. The room was a decent size, clean and had good basic amenities. The bathroom was also good with shower toiletries and towels provided. We were based on the 15th floor and found the lifts reliable and we never had to wait long. Housekeeping visited everyday to make the bed, change bins and clean the bathroom - we found it a bit hit and miss as to what towels were replaced but this was not a major issue. We did not eat at the hotel at all - there did not appear to be room service and it seemed the restaurant only offered breakfast and dinner options however the menu was not to our taste. Overall this was a great place to stay for the week and we would return in future.

Hotel undoubtedly in an excellent position for visiting Manhattan. Rooms not too large but clean, without a wardrobe (there is only a small compartment, behind the sliding door of the bathroom, where you can hang some clothes) and a few baskets for shoes and small clothes. Bathroom without bidet, but in the room there are mats and tools for doing physical activity.....ah these Americans! Taking an elevator, especially in the morning, often takes up to 15/20 minutes.
THE BREAKFAST IS ABSOLUTELY INSUFFICIENT. Often rude staff and very long waiting times both to order and to receive what was ordered (in the limited choice available). Anything you take outside the menu (even a simple piece of butter) has to be paid for. The last 3 days of the holiday there was no orange juice or oranges to make juice. On the last day, in addition to orange juice, hot milk, bottles of water and jams were also missing because, they said, "the truck hasn't arrived" (on the corner of the street there is a supermarket open 24 hours.... .). Few seats, not even a paper placemat for a minimum of hygiene. If you decide to choose this hotel, I highly recommend not including breakfast; on the other side of the street there is "le pain quotidien" where you can also find pasteis, coffee and cappuccino, much more in keeping with the habits of us Italians, and at a decent price for New York.

I stayed here for 8 nights with my 14-year-old daughter. We had a two double bed room, on the 21st floor, booked through BA holidays.
Room: exactly as shown in the photos. The room was very clean and was cleaned every day. The bathroom had good lighting. The shower was spacious and no issues with hot water. The air conditioner worked well (only needed on a couple of occasions...it is April after all). The beds, including the pillows and duvets, were among the most comfortable we have slept in. The coffee maker was excellent and the coffee, milk etc was replenished every day. The mini fridge was a great extra - big enough for 2 large bottles of soda and a carton of milk, some fruit/yogurt etc. Lots of choices for lighting in the room, including colour change LED lighting around the bed. Storage was a little limited but enough for the two of us (lots of space in the bathroom though). I wasn't aware of any noise from outside of our room during our stay.
Hotel location: within a 5 minute walk you could get to a variety of different restaurants and to the entrance to Grand Central station (only one or two stops on the Subway to Times Square, depending on which line you take). The M42 bus stops just a couple of minutes away and travels the entirety of 42nd St ending at the Circle Line Cruise Terminal and passes the New York Library and Times Square on the way. I couldn't fault the location of the hotel. It felt quiet but still safe. There is a shop on the corner where we were able to get drinks and snacks.
Staff & amenities: the man who checked us in (Justin) was very friendly. When we met cleaners in the elevators they were also very friendly. We were given a free drink voucher for each night of our stay. We didn't really spend any time in the shared areas as we were out exploring for 14+ hours every day, but the areas looked clean and, again, the same as the photos on the website. There were 3 elevators and we didn't have to wait for more than a couple of minutes at any time. They were able to look after our luggage for us after we checked out which was great as our flight home wasn't until 11pm.
Altogether we had a great time here and would stay again.

My wife and I just returned from New York City while celebrating our 42nd Anniversary and happened to choose this hotel which was absolutely phenomenal. I've traveled on business a great deal over the years and stayed in a number of New York hotels (including the other EVEN Hotel in the City and both Intercontinental Hotels) and this was our favorite, primarily because of the great staff and overall cleanliness.
We got lost trying to find the hotel on arrival and I called and happened to get Maria who guided us in and greeted us on arrival. Both interactions set the stage for a truly great stay. The hotel is actually in an excellent location, just a couple blocks from Grand Central for subway access and a 15-20 minute walk to Times Square and Bryant Park with tons of restaurants nearby.
To top it off, there is nothing better than to go to your room and find crisp white linens on a perfectly made bed and a bright and spotless room. Ironically, they even had a can of Clorox wipes in the room, but there wasn't one single time that we felt the need to use them. The other thing we truly appreciated was the daily housekeeping, something that's rare at many hotels since the pandemic. The room was a little larger than typical NYC rooms (probably about 230 square feet) but the designer did a great job of including all the essentials while still giving the room a comfortable feeling. Case in point was the iron and ironing board which were tucked away in a drawer under the bed! Perfect use of what is normally wasted space. The bed was comfy, lots of ports to power up your devices, internet was fast and lighting was good.
Kudos also to Tisha in the restaurant, Cork and Kale, who does as outstanding job taking orders, cleaning tables and servicing the entire restaurant single handedly, including the outside overlook, which was a nice feature, just outside the dining room. While the breakfast menu isn't extensive, it's adequate, tasty and covers all the bases, but don't expect to leave feeling stuffed.
Bottom line is that we truly enjoyed our stay and can't think of anything that wasn't up to par. We will definitely return and highly recommend it.

We spent 6 nights in August. Very nice hotel, reception on the first floor so from the entrance you can go directly to the room using the card that unlocks the lifts and entrance door. Room of just sufficient size, 2 beds that were not quite double, one of which slid towards the floor, not very comfortable. Daily cleaning, all comforts. In the center but in a quiet street, supermarket, pharmacy, restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner very close. Grand Central Station 5 min walk. They keep $75 per day as a deposit which they will return 5/6 days after check out, while at the end of the stay the taxes are around $28 per day. I would happily stay here again and recommend it.

Have returned this week after staying at the Even Midtown for 5 nights booked through British Airways. With BA there was no tourist tax to pay.
The hotel is on par with Premier Inns in the UK.
firstly security deposit - ours was refunded to my credit card with 72hrs of being back in the UK, no issues at all!!
The hotel is in a fairly good location for the price paid, only 5 min walk from Grand Central Station. You have to pay 5* prices for 5* location.
Rooms were more than adequate. Very comfy bed & pillows ! Clean towels every day. Coffee machine with tea & coffee pods. Lots of plug sockets.
Lovely sized shower with complimentary shower gel, shampoo etc.
We all slept well.
We did not eat at the hotel as we were room only basis so cannot comment on the food. The free drink each night at the bar was a lovely gesture, we saved these and had them all together on our last night!
Do not be put of by the negative reviews

Rooms were clean and had nice amenities, quality bedding, mattress and pillows. One reason we chose Even was for the free breakfast. Breakfast menu was small but had a quality items - much better than a typical continental breakfast at chain hotels. However, on Christmas Day, of all days, we waited in the breakfast line for half an hour. We even bussed a couple of tables for them becasue it was overcrowded and space VERY limited but that went unnoticed. Workers did their best and were hustling, but the place was extremely understaffed for a holiday. After waiting 30 minutes, we finally sat down and after 10 minutes, I had to find a waiter and ask if we could order. He told us the kitchen wasn’t taking any more orders. So instead of someone putting up a sign or coming over to the long line of people waiting, they let us wait in that long line and get seated, THEN told us we couldn’t be served - and on Christmas morning! Shame. Another issue we had was upon arrival we asked if they had a subway/city map and she told us No. Two days later we notice magazines at the front desk with all of this information which would have been VERY useful for us. This hotel has potential but it just missed the mark for us to recommend it to others. If the location were exceptional then we might consider it again, but because of the experience on Christmas Day and lack of management foresight when planning for holidays, we cannot recommend this hotel.

Good afternoon 657Wendih, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent stay with us. We are pleased to hear that appreciated the cleanliness of our rooms and our amenities, including our mattress and pillows. We take pride in the quality of our hotel and amenities. We are however, very sorry to learn that your breakfast experience during the busy holiday period did not meet expectations. We do take pride in the fact that we don't offer a buffet set up an that we are geared toward offering less than typical breakfast items, particularly those that are focused on health and wellness here at Even Hotels. That said, we completely understand how frustrating long waits can be, especially when you’re eager to start your day. We also regret any miscommunication from our restaurant staff and/or front desk that may have added to your frustration. Please know that we take your comments seriously. We are already reviewing our staffing and communication procedures during peak times to improve service efficiency and provide clearer updates to our guests. I would love to connect with you directly. Please feel free to send me a quick email when you have a moment. My email is below. We value your feedback, as it helps us identify areas where we can do better. Thank you again for staying with us and for sharing your thoughts. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for a smoother and more enjoyable experience in the future. We stayed at the Even Hotel in mid-town Manhattan in January. Great location because although it’s literally 5 minutes walk to Grand Central Station it’s quiet.
Room was suitable for 2 people although there was 3 double beds so I’d say a family of three would find it ok for a base to sleep and shower etc.
We were on the 14th floor and lucky enough to be facing directly opposite the Chrysler Building so yes we had a great view.
There’s the usual coffee making facilities in the room, and the lobby also had drinks, snack etc. I don’t remember seeing any kind of menu for actual meals but you don’t visit New York to stay in the hotel.
You can turn left out of the hotel entrance and about 100 yards up the street you’ll find yourself on the East River side of Manhattan and pretty much stood right opposite the United Nations Building.
Turn right out of the lobby and at the end of the street there’s a 24hr CVS, which is a huge pharmacy that also sells plenty of drinks (including alcohol) and food.
The room itself was cleaned every day and I have to say you do feel very safe staying there as you cannot use the lifts without your room card so it’s very secure.
We’d definitely stay here again.
