I have friends at Columbia University, upper West Side NYC, so the Marrakech was convienant. I have stayed there three times. It is basic. Lots of stairs and the hallways are dark, and a maze of walls and corners, to find your little room. The closet was a cheaply constructed shelf with a white drapery over it. The walls are...

If you pack minimally and plan to spend most of your time out in the city, this hotel will work for you. The location is terrific, with a handy subway stop, great nearby restaurants, diners, markets, bakeries, and local shops. Columbia and Bank Street are close by. It takes about 20 minutes to ride the 1 line to Times Square/Broadway....

Pros: Excellent access to restaurants, public transportation, and Columbia University. Good sized room with night stands, desk, and shelf/closet unit. Swanky decor and clean. Plenty of hot water. Lobby is open 24 hrs. No problems with noise. Flat screen TV with cable. Window unit air conditioner. Wifi in the lobby with lots of cushions and foot stools. Lots of families...

The good: Rooms are clean, comfortable beds. no breakfast included but several diners and a grocery store nearby, staff were helpful and a subway station right outside the door that gets you to Times Square in 20 minutes. The bad: The room was quite cramped as there were four of us and they couldn't accommodate splitting the beds, so we...

We stayed in the marrakech earlier this year. Before we left we emailed to ask to be in a room near our friends who we were going with. On arrival we checked in only to find out we were as far away as we could possibily be. Also we had both paid for the same size rooms however our room...

This place is definitely cheap and cheerful. The decor itself is a bit dingy and has no lift but the service makes up for a lot. The location was perfect for me as i was based out of harlem but it is a little way out of town and the area, while lovely, wont give you a feel of buzzing...

This hotel has no elevator, even though my room was in the fifth floor. The ambiance is very tacky and worne out, although the room interior was ok. Is was also noisy to sleep. Since it is in a "so-so" neighborhood, the price is unjustified. I would stay there for US$90/day, but not the outrageous US$240 that I sadly paid.

When making a quick trip to NYC, I was looking for a low cost option on the Upper West Side. I chose the Marrakesh by price alone, hoping that it would just be a decent place to sleep (without having to share a bathroom). It actually turned out to be a bit better than I had anticipated. It certainly needs...

While on my way to New York, i messed up my knee. The Marrakesh has no elevators, and the staff was immediately kind enough to give me a complimentary upgrade, which allowed me a room on a lower floor. The rooms are very small, but extremely clean and absolutely perfect for any trip to NYC where you simply need a...

I booked this hotel through an Expedia mystery deal - the 3 star rating is a bit misleading, I think it would be 2 stars at best. Plus: decent location, and cheap by NY standards. The room was reasonably clean (not to my high standards, but okay). Front desk staff were helpful. Con: the room is small, but you expect...
