Room and location of the hotel are great. We ordered room service and it arrived in 10 minutes! The staff was super nice and down to earth. Room was very clean and the bed was giant. We didn't eat at the restaurant but we ordered coffee and it was delish.

I recently spent a long weekend at The Standard in the East Village. My first experience with The Standard and it was great. Not only did they arrange perfect weather (no extra charge), the room and service were second to none. The views were amazing and the bar and restaurant were even better. But what put it over the top...

I lived in NYC for almost 10 years and moved back to the DC area (my hometown) in 2010, but still travel up to NYC often for business. In mid-March that was exactly the case and since I was only staying one night, I decided to book the Sunset Studio at The Standard, East Village. From the second I stepped...

I have stayed in many hotels over 20 years of visits to Manhattan and the Standard East Village is by far the most satisfying hotel I have ever stayed in. Not only does the hotel have a wonderfully attentive staff rushing to open every door for you or coming by your room for turn down service, but two great food...

It doesn't get better than staying in the heart of the east village and the Bowery. The Standard East Village is the best hotel in new york for a genuine, downtown new york experience. The staff is fantastic, helpful (and just happen to be extremely good looking). Rooms feature a stunning view of lower manhattan, super comfortable bed and great...

My two night bill was approaching $700, way north of my norm. And sure enough, THE Standard proved well above MY standard. The defining feature of this hotel is glass. It's everywhere. Even the shower has a floor to ceiling window. There's a gauze curtain, but it's still public enough to possibly bother some. Not me, fortunately, and I was...

This hotel has the best of many things...amazingly staff who were so friendly and helpful from booking the reservation down to walking out the door after check out. Had a bunch of things that I needed delivered for my stay that arrived days before I got there and the concierge took care of everything and even had it all set...

Hotel was located a few blocks from the show we were in town to see (STOMP) and many good restaurants. Our room was small but had everything we needed - including a fully-stocked mini-fridge (stocked with many overpriced items - didn't touch it). Bar on the 1st floor just off the lobby was small and always crowded - great for...

Spent 3 days here on a business trip in the cold, cold weather. Everything worked fine, the resturant is really solid, for breakfast nothing is too much trouble and at lunch-time the specials were excellent. A great location with the High-Line walk just outside and easy access to some great culture. Will come again

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located off Cooper Square in one of New York's most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, The Standard, East Village is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure-very much in the spirit of its surroundings. You enter the 21-story tower through an original tenement-style building before ascending to unparalleled views of Manhattan. There's a quiet, calm garden tucked away at street level, Michelin-starred chef John Fraser's widely acclaimed Narcissa, and the bustling, street-side Café Standard, which hums from morning until late night. ... more   less
