Hotel's Favourite
Excellent stay, start to finish. Friendly, knowledgeable, professional receptions staff. Had a king room on 21st floor, not a spectacular view but it wasn’t a wall either. No street noise. Fridge, coffee maker, microwave are nice to have. We were two people with two large suitcases, two small and a couple of travel bags. While not luxuriously spacious we had PLENTY of space for our needs. There are around 9 rooms per floor and 3 decent sized elevators, we never waited more than a 2-3 minutes for one. Nice bathroom size with ok shower pressure. We used the car service offered and it was great. I’ve seen complaints in other reviews but we had no issue and the fixed price was the same as an Uber. Pay cash to avoid extra charge levied for cc payment. We changed our flight time and it was no trouble at all to change the car service on short notice. Coming back through NYC in a couple weeks for a week and will not hesitate to book here again. Location is also super convenient with a station 1-2 min walk away on 34th.

We stayed at this location during the rise of COVID19 concerns and precautions and still had an amazing time. Our room was cleaned daily, the staff wore gloves, and hand-sanitizer was placed outside of the elevators. Simple things letting us know they were taking precautions was helpful. The location of this hotel can't be beat and our view of the ESB were a wonderful reminder of our time here! The front desk staff was helpful with directions and recommendations, as well as making sure we had a car to the airport. Room size is typical of NYC. We had a king, both left our suitcases out and had walking room. The closet was nice and having a small refrigerator and microwave was helpful. Will definitely stay here again!

Travelled all the way from Virginia Beach by land for almost 7 hours. So exhausted but came early in the morning. Main doors were closed from 11-5:30 am I believe, and I think the idea is great (for security purposes). We were let in by the front desk agent. Although there's no rooms available for an early check in, he let us leave our bags in the storage room & use the lower lever bathrooms.
Front desk agentd were just okay, maybe they are a little tired.
There is this maintenance staff who I kept bumping into and he was very friendly and fun to talk with.
Overall, great location and our room was very clean and spotless!
We'll be back!

Spent 5 nights here during our family x mas holidays and really enjoyed it. Its a compact hotel with 2 queen beds for the 4 of us. Centrally located across from Macys at the corner of w35th and 6 th Avenue. We arrived on a Friday night and were given a room on level 2 facing 35th st. It was so noisy with all the x mas parties so we requested for another room and the moved us upto level 10 and the room on the other side behind the lifts. View was not as good but much quieter. The hotel does not have a restaurant or provide breakfast but there is a bar in the lobby. There is also a small shop in the lobby. The staff are friendly. There are only 2 lifts and sometimes it can take a long time for a lift. Ideal location as you can walk to times square, Rockefeller centre, empire state building. Hotel can provide airport shuttle service for around $90 in a nice vehicle compared to yellow cabs. This is our 2nd stay at the hotel.

I recently spent a weekend in NYC and stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn. It was a nice respite after tacking Manhattan traffic. The Hilton Garden Inn is wedged into a row of three hotels near 6th Avenue, very convenient to Herald Square and a short walk to Times Square. It’s in the heart of Manhattan’s Koreatown, with Korean restaurants up and down the block, and across the street from Keen’s steakhouse.
The Hilton Garden Inn gets high marks on almost all scores. The rooms are clean and in good repair, service is pleasant and efficient across the board (from front desk to housekeeping), and the rates are very reasonable, especially given the location. I originally intended to stay for one night, but foul weather convinced me to stay over another night. The front desk was most accommodating.
However, I have two quibbles. This is the first (and only) Hilton property I’ve stayed at where there was no complementary coffee in the lobby each morning. I shelled out nearly $4 for a not-so-impressive and rather small cup. Granted, it saved me from walking a block and a half to Starbuck’s in freezing temperatures, but that was its only saving grace. The hotel also doesn’t have dedicated parking, so I had to schlep over to W. 36th St. and drop $50 per night.
That said, if you can deal with those two issues, most definitely enjoy your stay here.
Oh, one last note … the Hilton Garden Inn actually has a thirteenth floor, so I requested a room there on my second night (yeah, had to swap put rooms). But the front desk made it pretty much painless and got me a night on the floor that doesn’t exist in most other hotels.

Adequate hotel, typical Garden Inn clean but lacking any character. Tiny, tiny room. HOWEVER, if you're planning to travel in the city by subway the location of the hotel couldn't possibly be more perfect. Equidistant and about 1 street away from two major subway stations with access to all lines except the Lexington/2d avenue branches. This makes if a "4" - if there were a convenient Starbucks, might have gotten a "5"

Stayed here for 3 nights when visiting NYC with my son. The location is excellent, but that's as far as it goes. There's no restaurant to speak of, just a self-service cafeteria type affair where you can buy low rent instant food, there is also a shop selling chocolate and crisps!
The rooms are tired and in need of updating to modern tastes and standards of comfort (e.g. there was an overly soft mattress in my bed). The hotel still seems to use keycards not digital keys, so I imagine it is in the queue for updating, perhaps COVID slowed this process down. The very small interactions I had with staff were pleasant, so I don't blame them, it's just clear that senior management have not seen fit to invest in this hotel for some time.
Hilton is a mid-range chain so I don't expect miracles but as a gold member, I've stayed in a lot of Hiltons and this one simply does not match up with the rest of the brand's properties. e.g. the Hilton Garden Inn I am staying in right now in Philly is leagues ahead of the NYC West 35 St hotel.

This is an okay hotel located right next to Macy's in Herald Square. The room was quite small, but it has what you need to keep organized - ample drawer space and a desk. There is also a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in the room. The bathroom is clean, but not enough shelf space or hooks. The towels are okay, not great. Give you three bath towels per day. No decent breakfast choice, just a Grab and Go set up. No free coffee/tea in lobby. Front Desk staff is adequate, but not great. The elevators are in a weird position behind a wall and even though you have to use your key to punch in your floor, I did not feel safe getting into them by myself. Anyone could get on the elevator with you and wait for you to put your key in. Staff can't see the elevators from the oddly positioned check-in area. Elevators are quiet which is good because the rooms are right in front of elevators. We could hear some street noise on the 9th floor.

I walked with my luggage to this hotel from Penn station with ease. The location is perhaps the best part of the hotel, everything I needed was with walking distance and then there is easy access to public transportation. My room was surprisingly spacious for NYC. Bathroom worked as expected. Well equipped and clean gym was a pleasant surprise as well. Friendly staff.

My partner and I stayed for a week ( Oct. 28th- Nov. 5th, 2023) and enjoyed our stay. This was our first time visiting NYC so we booked this hotel because of the location which is conveniently located close to main tourist attractions. We walked the majority of our stay and saved a couple of bucks. The subway is also right around the corner, and it was great to get to Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We particularly appreciated Marlyn and Jared for going beyond expectations to ensure we enjoyed our first visit to New York. The hotel room was clean (we always bring disinfectant wipes to clean all the surfaces), it was small but not uncomfortable, and we had a great view of the Empire State Building from our window. We felt safe in the area and did not feel overwhelmed by the volume of people, even though we did try to avoid peak times. We enjoyed the Japanese restaurant called "MEW" located next to the hotel; definitely swing by if you like Japanese cuisine.

Cambridge, United Kingdom1,430 contribution160 helpful votesI see there is a shop in the hotel where you can buy some meals to heat up in the room microwave. What sort of things did they have and what were the prices like? Is there a supermarket nearby? Many thanks.
No they are not. And to top it off when you turn the tv on there isn't even a channel guide. You have to scroll through channels to see what is on. I like to have the tv on at night to relax and their old run down tv ruined my trip. I could do without the smart tv I guess but no channel guide at all. Really bad. Good question to ask.
