We chose the Morningside Inn for it’s upper west side location and value pricing. We reserved a superior 1 room which had an ensuite bath and a tv. The room was very small and Spartan, but that is to be expected for a budget hotel in New York. The room was clean and the bathroom had been updated. The elevator... More

The hotel has a good location, the heart of Manhattan is only 30 minutes away by the underground. They don't serve food that wouldn't be a problem as in the advertisement they promised a shared kitchen that was nowhere around. I spent 4 nights there and they didn't even clean the room after the previous guest and there was no... More

This is clearly a budget hotel and lives up to that expectation. The furniture and the space in the room was the barely necessary, not an inch more or less. The corridors, carpets, paper-thin walls, tiny elevator... you just recognize the budget constraints everywhere. The service at the reception, same thing. The kitchen is absolutely basic, so you will just... More

I spent there only one night. Clean, shared bathroom outside the room. In reality was dedicated to our room only while the second room was vacant. Good price and excellent location. Close to CP and Metro.

This was my first ever trip to New York, travelling on a budget with an adult son. Unsure what to expect but found the Morningside perfectly adequate for our needs. Room 306 faced the street (through a window with broken frame) and other than one area of carpet damage was large and pleasant enough. Temperatures were high (90s by day)... More

I reserved a Superior One room with a private bath for two weeks. I arrived early and Patrick helped me store my luggage and graciously directed me to the local eateries. The room was clean, simple and straightforward. The bathroom was spotless and the refrigerator incredibly helpful as I was on a budget and needed to get groceries instead of... More

Three of us stayed in a budget triple for a week, and it was just right! I work for a housing department at a university, so I was quite wary of bed bugs. I read all the reviews of different hostels in NYC, and thought to take a chance on this one. Upon arrival, I planned to take my LED... More

The Morningside Inn was a good place for our family to stay while seeing the NY sights - near the metro, a grocery store, and enough room for us to get a good night's sleep. Not a luxery suite, but very adquate for us.

Budget spartan room with nothing moveable and unnecessary stern warning not to steal the furnishings. No TV, hence the bonus that there's no TV noise next door. Quiet street. Peaceful ambience inside, and the few guests seemed largely budget-conscious young travellers. Lifts and loos erratic. However, close by is Upper Broadway, a cheerful area with almost Parisian ambience, good eating,... More

The Morningside Inn is located on 107th Street which is in upper Manhatten. There are 2 subway stations close to the hostel (about 4 blocks) The hostel has a small lobby in the basement where you get free wifi and a chance to buy something from a vending machine. Our room had one queen size bed and another sigle bed.... More
