Touring NYC for 4 days as a single 50+ Traveler, I was so happy having subway a few block away, Rite Aid and local restaurants, beautiful working class neighborhood. I usually enjoy budget hotels while traveling, but after this experience I will always seek out a good hostel like this one first.

Arrival: room is not ready, you can leave the luggage but you have to mange to take it downstairs and pay lockers $4-$5 each locker! and if you forget something and need to open it, then you have to pay again. Cleaning in the corridor done in early morning, super noisy. Breakfast is a joke. Poor coffee, juice if you...

I booked there, for 2 days not wanting to get stuck somewhere I might not like. The staff was wonderful and the price is really great! I paid $45 for a private room and shared bath. It comes with breakfast and is located in a good neighborhood. The room was really small but good enough to accommodate my needs. There are...

Pros: Plenty of freebies, which I haven't seen in many other hostels. You get free breakfast, free Pizza on Wednesdays (LOADS of pizza!) and a towel included. The wifi in the common area was really fast. Everything worked efficiently. Great location, you can walk or subway to everything. Cons: staff were pretty rude, they just could learn to be a...

It's in a good location, you can arrive to Time's Square in 20min by walk. The room wasn't very nice but it was clean. Was very cold outside but inside the room was warm. The only bad thing was that internet didn't work in the rooms. For have internet you should go to the reception or to another common area...

The best of the hostal is the location, I walked almost every day from the hostel to Manhattan, uptown and downtown. The neighborhood is safe. New York is a expensive city, and this Hostal give you the perfect balance between location and budget. The rooms are small but OK, the same thing with the breakfast, but I was paying for...

I loved the idea of this hostel but unfortunately it wasn't the greatest. My bed wasn't made when I got there at 5pm. I was given sheets to make it myself which didn't impressed me. There was a discussion between house keeping and the front desk which turned into an argument. The housekeeper walked out without explaining anything. I went...

While my first stay here (October 2015) was smooth, my recent stay was very disappointing. At check-in the credit card payment did not go through after 3/4 attempts. Surprisingly, the front office staff used utterly unpleasant language and tone of voice blaming me for the unsuccessful payment. I have never seen this treatment in any place I have stayed, from...

I was looking for a cheap place to stay and settled on the Chelsea International Hostel for $72 a night for a solo room, booked through hostelworld.com. I arrived around noon and check in time was 3pm, they won't assign rooms early so you can either sit around and wait or drop your bags in a locker in the basement($5)....
