I really liked this place. My son and I traveled by Amtrak, and the hotel is conveniently located within a couple of blocks of Penn Station. When we arrived around 11:00 a.m., I was merely hoping they would let us stash our luggage for a few hours until check-in. They went the extra mile and let us check in early, which was a huge help to us. They stepped up again on our last day and stored our luggage for several hours after checkout so we could do some more exploring. They really couldn’t have been more accommodating. Another plus was a free breakfast with omelettes, potatoes, sausage, pastries, etc. Everyone knows New York is expensive, so any free meal is a bonus. The room was small and not fancy, but clean and serviceable. Again, the location is the huge selling point of this place. Penn Station is a hub for several subway lines, so you can get almost anywhere you want to go. The subway servicing the World Trade Center and the Statue of Liberty stops there and is an easy 20 minute ride away. Times Square is a doable 14 block walk, or it’s just one stop away on the subway. I highly recommend staying here and would do so myself again in a heartbeat.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it was a great choice--helpful & friendly staff, good breakfast, comfortable beds, very clean rooms, good location. The room was small, but we expected that. This was a great base for our NYC visit. We would stay here again.

When we arrived we needed to leave a deposit of $150 which is due back on check out. I checked my card the day I left and it was returned. Our room was on the 14th floor. Lifts work with the key card which was good to know in advance. Some European speakers didn’t quite understand and lifts were going up and down passed floors a little. The room was good. It had 2 double beds in which slept 3 of us (1 adult 2 kids). For a room in NYC I found it quite a good size. There was air con which was a god send although slightly noisy. There were drinks but chargeable if not a member. The bathroom had a bath and shower with good pressure. Complimentary toiletries too. Breakfast was included which was great. There was hot abs cold drinks. Eggs/omelettes and meats usually sausage or turkey sausage and potatoes. Also cold cereals and fruit and yogurts. My kids love making their own waffles with the machines. Quick and easy to use they were tasty too. Location was good. Close to the Main Street and walking a few minutes to Penn station. Would stay again.

We chose this Hampton based on its close proximity to Penn Station/Moynihan Train Hall, since we travel to/from NYC via Amtrak. It turned out to be a great "home base" for our recent NYC weekend trip. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful throughout our short visit. Our room was clean, the king bed comfortable, and most of all, it was quiet so we could get a good night's sleep. (Even with an ice machine outside our door and a fire station just a stone's throw away!) One thing to keep in mind is that there are just 8 rooms per floor at this location. We found the room to be a good size for us, with plenty of room to move around. Water pressure and temperature were good. Since I'm someone who prefers a bath to a shower, it was great to have a room with a shower/tub combo, along with some nice bath amenities. You'll find a variety of dining (our pick being a 99 cent pizza/deli) and shopping within walking distance. (There's a location of the Jack's discount chain across the street, along with a Nordstrom Rack virtually next door.) If you're an Amtrak traveler dealing with early/late trains into the city or attending an event at Madison Square Garden, this is definitely a hotel you should consider. But even if those don't apply to your reason for visiting the Big Apple, it's still an excellent choice. We're glad we chose this Hampton Inn and will more than likely stay here again when visiting NYC!

Booked this hotel based on the good reviews. Only to be absolutely disappointed. Considering the cost of the stay... Checked in early for a $100 something dollar extra fee. Paid rooms in full at check in. Faucet was leaking in the bathroom when we checked in. Water everywhere on the floor! First night, barely slept with all the people screaming on the street at each other all throughout the night. Next morning, off to breakfast. Good luck finding a seat. The dining room is clearly too small for the amount of guests. Breakfast from 6-9. The waffle area is a mess. 2 minutes something for each waffle. Knowing people take more than 1 waffle each. Especially kids. Oatmeal absolutely tasteless and watery. Ran out of bread!!!! People waiting by your table for you to finish eating. Because of lack of seats. People with kids, sitting with their kids on their lap. 3 couples sharing a 2 people table. Taking turns to sit. Never experienced this at a hotel!! All in all a disaster. You have to go at 6 or 7am to be able to avoid all of that. They only clean your room once, if you ask for it. They do not throw any garbage if not in garbage can. Found hair in the shower. If you ran out of toilet paper, you had to go to front desk and get it. They will give you one roll! Also, the rooms smell of feet. Our rooms had complimentary snacks and drinks. But we were still charged for the water bottles. Not to mention the rude front desk people. Who seemed bothered when you asked a question. Probably because they were socializing amongst them and playing on their phone. An exception made for Khadijah who was the sweetest, most helpful person. And had a contagious smile! All in all, we could not wait to check out. I've stayed in many hotels and this was by far the worst experience in a really long time. Goes without saying we won't go back.

This hotel is in a great location for being able to walk to lots of areas of NYC, such as Madison Square Garden, Theater District, Chelsea, Greenwich Village. Our room was small (double with 2 beds); beds were really comfortable. Bathroom fine - smallest sink I've seen in a long time but it worked. Shower & hot water were good. Free breakfast was fine, not exciting. There's a nice French coffee & croissant shop at the end of the block.

I was in town for a concert at Madison Square Garden so I decided to stay at this hotel as I wasn't sure if the weather was going to be bad or not and didn't feel like walking to/from the concert in snow. The weather turned out to be fine, a little cold. I had a good experience at this hotel. They offered a free breakfast. I liked how I had to book a time to go to the gym and that you had to be vaccinated to be able to use it. I asked for extra towels and they had someone send them right up. My room was on the top floor and the elevator never took too long to get up to the 19th floor. I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again even if I wasn't attending a concert b/c it's so close to Penn Station and only a few blocks from Times Square.

We stayed here for two nights and it was a really wonderful experience. We arrived early and our room was ready, Khadijah checked us in and she was very helpful and friendly. Having our room ready early made a great difference to us as we had travelled from early morning. Our room was perfect, surprisingly for New York City we had lots of space. Everything was clean too. I had emailed looking for a room on the street and they did this for us. (Thank you 😊) Having breakfast included was super handy as it set you up for the long days of exploring. It was basic but perfect for us. The waffles were delicious! The location was basically next to Penn station and within walking distance of many things we wanted to do. I would definitely return here and thanks again for a great stay!
