I found the service charge of $35 to be obsurd, it included wifi (which didn't work), a gym (which I didn't use) and coffee or tea in the morning, and bath products..really? In addition to that you are charged $100 (if you use credit) or $200 (if you use cash) in case of damages. There as so many nice hotels...

Location is great, hotel is FINE but rooms are tiny (even by NYC standards) and the walls are paper thin. If you have a suitcase, it is a challenge. A buried "resort charge" is annoying - raise the room rate to be transparent, please!

Very nice , climate control was something of concern . Had to leave window open to keep room below 80 degrees with nothing on and 25 outside. Great staff !! Great location , the maintenance fee was not very disireable so we pretty much share the same opinions and have the same concerns as most other guests.

Location of the Hotel was very convenient to the Subway as well as Penn Station. The hotel was clean and quiet, the staff was very helpful as well. I very much enjoyed the included breakfast in my room package, as well as the wine tasting in the lobby each night! I will recommend this place to anyone who is traveling...

Loved this hotel. Never stayed before, but in a quieter neighborhood of Manhattan, yet close to great restaurants and attractions. Very Friendly staff, and great rooms for the price. Will definitely stay next time I am in NYC.

The Roger is the perfect location to stay at for the annual NYC Winter JazzFest in January: close to downtown, close to excellent restaurants and shopping. The staff are all delightful and I love Ian, Lucas, and everybody.

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Roger. The location was superb, and was coupled with friendly and efficient service. The only downside was the noise in the rooms. We were able to hear noise from other hotel guests as well as construction work going on outside our window.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This June, The Roger is unveiling a sophisticated new look after extensive renovations of its public spaces and guest rooms. Standing at the crossroads of uptown and downtown off Madison Park, the new Roger is a marriage of chic design and old world comfort, while continuing an unyielding commitment to superior service. The fresh aesthetic of the Roger’s public spaces is curated by hospitality guru Steven Kamali and designed by the notable Anna Busta. A collaboration of renowned talent has distinguished a transitional hotel that caters to the demands of the modern traveler and local tastemakers alike. The vaulted lobby lounge provides an ideal space for any time of day or occasion, from morning business meetings to lunch with family, or catching up over cocktails with friends. To update the spacious guest rooms, the Roger tapped Annette Jaffe of MSM, whose timeless original design has kept travelers returning year after year. Jaffe’s new rooms are characterized by lush custom pieces and applied moldings to naturally compliment the historic building’s unique rooms and inviting terraces. Whether for only a night or a weeks long stay, the Roger is the savvy traveler’s home away from home. ... more   less
