Booked this hotel mostly because of location. And it is located in great spot. Near Museum of Natural History and Central Park. Room was great, lobby is just as big as need, but stuff who is working there is unwelcome. Did not get room for me and kids, because of problem with computer and we came 30 minutes before 3,...

Several family members stayed here for two nights to attend a family wedding. The hotel is well maintained with old-world styling, yet modern with comfortable beds, and they gave us rooms near each other. (The bathroom could use an upgrade, which they have plans to do.) My room was on the 7th floor, looking out on the Museum of Natural...

Spent three nights at the Excelsior, enroute to Florida. Central Park is right across the road also the American Museum of Natural History. Excellent for transport as train station just on the corner as are a vast number of bus stops. The main road has multiple eateries ie restaurants, pizza parlour, Chinese and various cafes. Gym & boardroom available. There...

This is an average hotel in terms of comfort, facilities and cleanliness. The main advantage is the location- a nice, quietish part of Manhattan with a subway stop and the beautiful Central Park nearby. The staff we came across seemed somewhat indifferent about our stay, the only remarkable interaction was with the man at reception who was the first person...

Next to the American Museum of Natural History and a short bus ride across the park to the Met. Rooms were fairly small but very comfortable; staff very accomodating. Try to get a room on an upper floor overlooking the museum -- southern exposure. The view of the space exhibition hall is amazing.

I chose this hotel because of the great location close to Central Park and the Met Museum. The bathroom was a bit tired and dated. The room had strawberry tops on the carpet under the desk that weren't vacuumed up and the pillow cases didn't smell so fresh. On our 1st night we were awoken around 3 am to a...

We recently stayed at the Excelsior for a family vacation. The rooms were nice, although there were a couple of problems. But first, the positive. The restaurant, Calle Ocho, is great and the hotel staff were very helpful. Good concierge and great doormen. On the down side, the elevators took forever and were not large enough for the traffic they...

Liked the hotel, the location was fantastic next to the museum and Central Park. Shops and restaurants nearby were great. Just be careful and avoid lower floors and a view that is not facing the museum.

Stayed here for a few nights both at the beginning and end of a tour around some of the East Coast cities. Didn't spend much time in the room and had heard stories of how tiny the rooms are in NYC. Not the case for us in this hotel - clean and tidy decent sized rooms. Very friendly staff and...
