The club lounge and the staff there are the best part of this hotel in addition to the location. After a lengthy airport commute, it's great to be able to grab water and snacks as well as to do so throughout the day. I love that the selection is always refreshed and that newspapers were available. The manager at the front desk was brusque and the doorpeople did not always mind the door. In addition, the hotel would not consider nor would they provide any further discount or comps for my travel to my travel agent. The carpet and most of the furniture in the room were beyond worn and in need of an update. It is well located in terms of central park, Moma and the theatre district. It's charming, but definitely in need of an update.

Dear K7918APsharonh, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. Indeed, our Clubroom is our most important amenity and it serves as the heart of the hotel, allowing guests a place to gather and relax. Moreover, I want to offer my apologies for your interaction with the Guest Service Agent you encountered. Already, his manager and I have spoken with him and reminded him that it is acceptable to give your TA credit for your stay. Lastly, we are aware of our position with regard to our decor, and there is a planned renovation in the works. We do hope you will give us another chance and hope to see you again soon. Kindest regards, John Avina General Manager

When I write these reviews of high-end hotels, I often think, “Would I rather stay in an average Hilton Garden Inn by the interstate? In this case, the answer is yes. On the plus side, the service is friendly, and—and this is a big thing—our room was quite large by New York standards. It didn’t have ceiling lights, but they almost made up for it with lots of small desk lamps. The street noise is average for New York hotels: noticeable, but not terrible. On the minus side: The furniture and carpet seem like they are several decades old. The sofa was built before people figured out how to make a sofa that is actually comfortable to sit in. The heating system works, but it is too binary. When on, it pumps out huge amounts of hot air, so you get rapid shifts in temperature. The bathroom is small and has no horizontal surfaces to put things on except the back of the toilet. The breakfast is, as advertised, “continental,” meaning muffins, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, and granola bars. In a four-star hotel, I would prefer to pay for a good breakfast. All of this would usually add up to three stars, but there’s one more problem. The hotel only has one small elevator, which means the wait times can be very long. You need to leave an extra 5-10 minutes if you are going anywhere. I gave up and started using the stairs. I think the reason this whole chain gets such spectacular ratings is that the staff are extremely friendly and they send you an email later begging for a review. (On the other hand, the Hotel Giraffe is significantly better.)

Dear shirleyotis, How terribly sad of you to think a stay at an interstate Hilton Garden is preferable than a stay with us, especially after pointing out some of our more outstanding elements, including our ample room sizes and extremely friendly staff. Had you mentioned any discomfort with your room or its location, we would have been more than happy to find you an alternate. We are aware of our position with regard to our decor and the age of our hotel, (built in 1926) especially the steam heating. A planned upcoming renovation is in the works which should resolve all of these issues. Also, our Continental breakfast is just an interim solution until the Monkey Bar is in a position to offer a full service breakfast. For now, the Monkey Bar offers brunch from 11:45am-3:00pm on weekends. Lastly, we are pleased to hear of your liking of our sister property, the Hotel Giraffe as significantly better; however, it offers the same level of service as we do, albeit at a different location and decor. Perhaps a second chance may change your mind? Kindest regards, John Avina General Manager

Excellent boutique hotel situated in Midtown East. What sets this place apart is the service. The doormen, bellhops, house staff, and the front desk are excellent- welcoming, courteous, accommodating, and professional. It's a throwback to another era, with a tapestry covered, chandeliered elevator and a small but welcoming lobby with an umbrella stand and doorman. The junior suite was very spacious, perfect for three of us. Robes, slippers, and high-end toiletries elevate the stay. The reading room was a great space for 24/7 snacks and beverages, plus a light breakfast buffet. I appreciated being able to take a cappuccino and the New York Times back to my room. Valet parking was also a great service for $40/24hrs. These amenities are what set the Hotel Elysée from similarly priced rooms at other midtown & Manhattan hotels. Special recognition to Nick, who helped me with a late-hour reservation change with understanding and efficiency.

The Hotel Elysée is a charming small hotel well located in the east 50’s - an easy walk to theater and some excellent restaurants. The rooms are very comfortable and well-appointed. The staff - everyone we met- were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Whenever we returned to the hotel we were greeted at the door and the front desk with a friendly “welcome back” A special treat is the hotel’s very comfortable lounge for guests where they provide breakfast and soft drinks and snacks through the day. The lounge has cushioned chairs and sofas and an adjoining library - very comfortable for reading in the afternoon. All in all a great place with a fabulous staff, all at a very reasonable price.

Excellent location, good value, very comfortable and highly recommended. I will stay here again when I am in NYC. The staff was professional and the resources very good. An extra treat is the second floor lounge for late afternoon snacks/drinks and morning continental breakfast.

A wonderful friendly hotel. Delightfully old-fashioned - I had a HUGE room in comparison to most modern hotels. Comfortable bed, extremely clean, safe and quiet. They have an extremely useful club room for guests to use during the day with free breakfast, real coffee, and snacks. Great location.

We love staying at the Elysee. The staff is very welcoming and the rooms are clean, nicely appointed and the service has always been outstanding. We do miss the happy hour that they had before covid and would love to see bagels added to the morning breakfast offerings. btw... the sweetest people work on the delightful mezzanine lounge and they remember us when we stay there! Truly an oasis in the city! Hospitality plus!
