Pod 51 Hotel is celebrated for its stellar location and transit connections, as well as its rooftop views that particularly impress guests. The compact nature of the rooms and a few missing amenities are noted by some travelers. Staff members at Pod 51 are often commended for their friendly and efficient service. While the hotel boasts a clean and modern atmosphere, opinions on the vibrancy of the decor and the size of the rooms vary. Despite some comments on noise levels and room space, the cleanliness is consistently applauded, though views on value for money are mixed.

In my first trip to NY Me and My friend stayed at Pod 51 Hotel in New York City, and it was an excellent experience! If you're looking for a clean, modern, and affordable option in the heart of Manhattan, this is a fantastic choice.

The rooms are compact but very thoughtfully designed, making the most of every inch of space. As the name suggests, it's all about efficiency—don’t expect huge hotel suites—but the layout is smart, stylish, and functional. The beds are comfortable, the decor is minimal and chic, and everything was spotlessly clean. The shared bathrooms (for some rooms) were surprisingly easy to access and always tidy, though private bathroom options are available too.

The location is unbeatable. Situated in Midtown East, it's close to major attractions like Rockefeller Center, the United Nations, and Fifth Avenue. There's also easy access to subway lines, making it simple to get anywhere in the city.

The rooftop terrace is a hidden gem! It offers fantastic views of the NYC skyline, perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing.

The staff were friendly, helpful, and always available to answer questions or offer recommendations. The vibe of the hotel is young and energetic, making it ideal for solo travelers, couples, or friends visiting the city.

Overall, Pod 51 is a great value for NYC—stylish, convenient, and budget-friendly. If you're okay with smaller rooms and prioritize location and quality over luxury, I’d highly recommend it!

Picked for a price lowest I could find at the time in the area I needed to access

Discovered convenient to bus lines, buses I can now tap my credit card for busfare! Easy, simple, convenient

Many bars, bistro, restaurants, markets, just minutes away

Rooftop One up a nice perk enjoying a coffee from the café off the lobby pleasant early morning, looking at the surrounding high rises

Minimal outside signage had to look twice rolling up at 2 AM to see if I was in the right place address is prominently displayed

Courteous efficient, check-in, even at 2:30 in the morning

Housekeeping was pleasant, courteous helpful rum is in perfect condition as was the shared bathroom

Surprising how quiet this property is! No noise from the elevator there is no ice machine usual noises at properties. I’ve stayed at.

The room is minimal. I like minimal! One twin bed fitted in one end of the room, a small sink with mirror for brushing my teeth and shaving a cove for hanging up a small desk and chair just enough just right for me!

TV is mounted on the wall perfect for sitting up in bed and watching

Shared bathroom is around the corner maybe 20 steps away

Never did hear Neighbor never did hear a shower, nice and quiet

A very good location for the price you pay, the room is extremely small but you know that since you booked, I had no noise problems. I think getting to sleep is a good option if you don't have claustrophobia problems. Comfortable bed. One of the front desk staff was extremely dismissive but the rest were extremely friendly.

Pod 51 is a good value and the staff is friendly and competent. Sure, the rooms are very small, but that is the trade-off for getting a place to sleep at about $250 a night (tax included) in Midtown Manhattan. The location is extremely convenient and the neighborhood has a lot of good restaurants, bars, etc. The only problem I experienced is the noise from other guests shutting the doors to their rooms late at night. I had a six-night stay and every night I was awakened two or three times by various people slamming their doors shut, even though I left the fan on high in the room and used earplugs. Other hotels deal with this problem by installing pneumatic door closers to slow the speed at which one can close a door, and by putting dampers around the door frame so that there is no impact of metal on metal or wood on metal. My only other suggestion is that rooms should have a small electric kettle and a few disposable cups so that guests can make tea or instant coffee. The hotel's coffee shop doesn't open until 7 a.m. and early risers need their caffeine sooner than that!

I stayed at Pod 51 for 6 nights in May. The room was ideal for a solo traveller. The bed was comfortable, there was a TV and a table and chair. Plenty of storage space and a hand basin. The biggest positive for me was how clean the room was. It was cleaned every day, spotless. Lots of new fresh towels every day upon returning from my travels and a lovely clean room.

The hotel, its reception area looks a little dated but it's clean. The staff at reception were very friendly and able to help with any requests. There is a little cafe which has a selection of pastries which is great in the morning. It doesn't seem to be open very late though which is a shame.

My only negative would be the shared bathrooms. They need updating. The tiles needed re-grouting and some of the woodwork around the doors was chipped and damaged. They are very small and end up overflowing with water going from the shower into the toilet area, there was no non-slip matt. I can imagine it is difficult to keep on top of a shared toilet space but they weren't the cleanest anytime I had to use it. So if I returned I would be booking a room with a private bathroom.

The location is excellent. You're in Mid-Town/Turtle Bay. Within walking distance of 5th Avenue, Rockefeller Centre, Central Park, UN Headquarters, Public Library. If your intention is to see all the tourist sites then it's the perfect location. For myself, having been before I felt 6 nights was too much in that particular area, in future I would rather stay in Greenwich Village or possibly Brooklyn.

Overall, a great stay.

I am very happy with my experience at Pod 51. My room, the shared bathroom, and the common areas were all clean and well maintained. Given the average cost of a hotel room in Manhattan in summer, I thought the price was very reasonable - and the safe, quiet, and trendy location (with a subway line only a short walk away) was a big plus. I've already recommended Pod 51 to three friends, and I plan to stay there the next time I'm in New York.

The rooms were clean and were cleaned every day, however the bathrooms need ventillation installed so they aren't overly moist or smelly after other users. There should be paper towels or a hand dryer in the bathrooms, otherwise the user cannot dry their hands before exiting. There should be an icebox at least on one floor so user doesn't have to go to the main floor and wait in line at the cafe just to get some ice. There could be a communal fridge or microwave for users to store and heat food.

The Pod 51 hotel is a clean and refreshing hotel. It's has great value for the price and location, close to many major subway lines and the buses are just around the corner. We have stayed here at least 20 times. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

Perfectly equipped hotel with small but very functional rooms that allow us to rest and clean ourselves, which is what most tourists in NY need. There is no refrigerator or kitchen in the rooms, but they are not missing either.
The location is ideal, close to the metro and with many shops and bars nearby.
The rooftop terrace is a luxury to relax in the evenings when you arrive at the hotel tired.
The cleaning of the rooms is on demand: when you hang the sign on the doorknob, they clean your room and change the towels.
The atmosphere is young people but without noise or scandals.
They allow you to store your suitcases after checkout so you can enjoy until the last day.
Internet works without problems.
The only complaint I can make is that they close the roof terrace too early, at 10:00 p.m.

Big room (own bathroom selection), staff was tremendous, cafe on-site, restaurants close, within less than 10 minutes walk to the hotels for the event I was attending in Midtown East. Perfect selection for me. There was no elevator for a fourth floor room, so that was odd (other side of building with rooms had elevator as many higher-level rooms on that side. Also, I was able to check-in during the morning since rooms were already clean and available. Tremendous!
