My original review was going to say "affordable and basic. Clean, cheap room with no bells and whistles. Was $100/night from Groupon. Bed was comfy, room was very clean, staff was friendly. Nothing fancy. Room 106 was behind the VERY loud elevator shaft. Every single time the elevator was operated it sounded like someone fell down some stairs with a... More

My daughter and I stayed for five days and thought the location was ideal! The room was very clean and comfortable. Hotel personnel were exceptionally helpful. Very unique elevator and so much history.

Beautiful building, very friendly staff, clean and comfortable accommodations. Location is excellent for any tourists or visitors - very accessible to subways and major tourist destinations. Would highly recommend the Deauville!

I had a surprisingly charming, warm experience at Hotel Deauville. Unlike at the larger, anonymous chain hotels, the Deauville's staff was super friendly; my room had a distinctive appeal and high-ceilings; the elevator was old-fashioned and hand-operated. The Beaux-Arts facade gave me a sense of old New York and the location on a tree-lined block in a quiet neighborhood made... More

I just show up in NYC to spend some time with my friends. Chose this hotel because of location and the price. You cannot compare this place to the big chains in the NYC, that will cost you arms, legs and some other parts. But don’t get me wrong, this place is nice and clean, the staff is just great... More

Greeted by the most demotivated member of staff-in fact all staff chose to look the other way and ignore you! Tired building in desperate need of some TLC. Expensive for what you get but they charge you so much for the location which is the only positive. The worst bit has to be when I arrived at my room, I... More

Spent two nights at Hotel Deauville in a single room with bathroom. This hotel has many of the original details, not limited to the manually operated elevator. Rooms are very basic and clean. Bedspreads are cotton and thus, also washable. Bathroom was old but very clean with original floor tile and wall tile from 1940's... Some tiles are chipped or... More

We had a room with a shared bathroom, which was fine because the bathroom was clean, however we stayed at the 7th floor and the bathroom was on the 3rd floor, so that was a little inconvenient. Other than that a good basic hotel and affordable for a weekend away.

This has become out hotel of choice in New York City - we love the midtown location as we can walk to everything, we love the staff - all from front desk to elevator operator to housekeeping were pleasant and accommodating - we love the strong WiFi - each end of each floor has a hot spot - and the...
