Hotel was in a great location close to Union Square. Every sub we took seem to stop here which was super convenient. Pretty quiet neighborhood in Gramercy Park. Room was very small but reminded us of what NYC would feel like. Hotel is very old. Shared bathrooms were never any issue. I did not like the smell of this hotel....

I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions which speaks for itself. Great value and in a great location downtown and a short hop away from Union Square. Yes it's basic but if you want to do Manhattan on a budget then this is the place. Grader you Diner a block away do great meals....breakfasts especially so. Loved the...

The location was perfect, close enough to get to sites, getting used to the sub is a must and saves so much time, good pubs and diners in the area too, plus far away enough that the prices are more reasonable than Times Square area. Hotel was clean and staff friendly. However, we must have drawn the short straw with...

I have stayed at Hotel 17 many times over the years and have found no place that offers the combination of excellent location, neighborhood, access to public transportation, cleanliness, orderliness, beautiful architecture and interiors, friendly, efficient service, flexibility in room offerings and the best prices in town for all this. It is truly a New York treasure.

I chose this hotel for my first visit to New York initially based on price and positive reviews here. If you are after a simple, good value convenient place to base yourself while you are exploring NYC Hotel 17 is a good bet. On arrival I found that its location a couple of blocks away from Union Square and the...

This hotel seems to sum up New York hotel accommodation. It was relatively cheap for the city (but expensive compared to other US cities) and as a consequence, the room is tiny, bathrooms are shared and most annoyingly, the heating pipes rattled hourly and as they're a distance of 3 inches from your head, it was not a restful night....

Good place to stay!! However, The old style heaters can keep you awake at night, which make noise!!😂please do not expect luxury. Small bed and shared bathrooms , 4 per floor!! Get up early to avoid standing in line for the bathroom!!

So I booked on line but then started wondering (even with a shared bathroom) how nice could this hotel be at such a low New York City Price. I googled and found the hotel was used for film and photo shoots so how bad could it be ? As I approached the entrance to Hotel 17 I was already relieved...

Very clean hotel. Very good location. Not far from subway station at Union Square. Easy access to everywhere you need to go. Good shopping and restaurants nearby. Comfortable stay. Hotel will store your bags same day if you arrive early or leave late. Will stay again every time. We love this place!
