We had an excellent experience from beginning to end. From the warm greeting at the front door and assistance with luggage, to the professional interactions at the front desk, I cannot say enough positive. The Washington Square reminded me of a European style boutique hotel which I love, beautiful and much more interesting than the national chains, with spaces designed well without being unnecessarily enormous, very interesting history. Guest were all ages, from around the world. My daughter and I had a deluxe twin room with two beds which overlooked the residential street and a large tree. High ceilings plus two huge windows opened which was wonderful, tons of natural light to go with a central A/C system. The room spaces were perfectly laid out with plenty of storage, safe and amenities. Many CO Bigelow products in the bathroom. The room was spotless and the housekeeper warmly greeted us in the hallway. I had breakfast in the restaurant which was delicious and offered until very late morning, priced well and excellent quality. The restaurant staff was attentive and kind. Despite being in a major city, the room was quiet at night. We appreciated an easy commute via subway or inexpensive taxi to our show in Midtown, but were so happy to have stayed at this hotel in the Village!…
I stayed here 6/12/22. Upon checking in I was assigned a very small dark room with a window looking out to a brick wall. I immediately called down and asked if I could move. I was told "no, we are sold out," which seemed odd given that the hotel and restaurant seemed empty when I checked in. To check, I went on the hotel website and tried to make a reservation for the same day, and found multiple categoies of rooms available. I went to the fron desk in person and told the man what I found. His response was that "we need to save those rooms for NYU parents." This, of course, makes no sense because I could have reserved them online... Obviously, he just could not be bothered helping me.
We are always looking for a reasonably priced, clean, centrally located hotel in NYC that can accommodate our family of 4. We finally found it. The location of WSH is perfect for going pretty much anywhere in the city. The rooms are quite spacious for NYC, the bathroom in particular was more than ample. The a/c worked well. Street noise was minimal, lots of great coffee shops nearby and the staff here go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Very helpful. Overall, WSH far exceeded expectations and we will definitely stay again.
This was our second stay at the Washington Square Hotel and it won't be our last. The staff is so nice and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The location is great. There are several coffee shops close by and our favorite Brooklyn Bagel is right down the street. We love this hotel!
Wonderful staff & excellent location. Close to subway and not in over run touristy area. Attached restaurant was also pleasant with very good service & prices. Rooms are good size for NYC ... Will definitely stay here again on our next visit.
Very helpful staff and did a great job of keeping our room clean. Cannot beat the location in the West Village, wonderful area for walking around and excellent restaurants all within walking distance. Love staying here whenever we visit New York City.
The hotel is so charming and accessible. We found our room to be lovely and quiet each of the five nights we stayed. Wonderful staff in the lobby; breakfast was delicious. Very convenient location for us.
Friendly, clean, safe hotel right on washington square park. I think everyone complaining here does not understand NYC hotels. They are small... If you want a big hotel room, you are going to have to pay for it. I love this hotel, it's close to NYU and super reliable and pleasant.
Great easy hotel, not overwhelming but true NYC style. Centrally located but much to do within blocks right on Washington Square.. been coming for a decade. Don't stay anywhere else. Restaurant fand Bar is convenient and great for drinks and good food. BREAKFAST fantastic! Warm atmosphere.
This is a historic hotel in the West Village. Yes, the rooms are small and our room opened on to an airshaft but it was quiet in a busy location and I prefer that to a view We love the Art Deco details. Beds are comfy with lovely linens and room is clean and they have coffee, tea and hot water in the rooms. We had great service at breakfast and a umbrella to use during the blustery weekend. So close to great restaurants and clubs as well as the subway. Can't wait to return.
