Great location. Hotel rooms feels as they have not been much updated since I stayed here frequently in the 1980s. First room change after 1 night. Loud "drilling" sound, ca. 5mins, woke me up 2am, sound came back every 1/2 hour or so. Next day - changed room. Got room 608 for 2 nights. 2nd night got severely bedbug bitten...

This is the best hotel and location in NYC, This is your home away from home. Check out the fabulous Bemelmans Bar for the excellent entertainment. Fabulous service, food, and rooms. Do spend time in the Spa too.

We stayed at the Carlyle Hotel while on our trip to NYC for the United Airlines half marathon. My husband and I both ran the marathon and we wanted to stay at a location with easy access to the start line. This hotel was just perfect. The subway station was just a 2 block walk and there were endless eateries...

My room was beautiful. Unfortunately one had to step up to use bathroom so I kept light on in bathroom all night so I would not forget to step up. Extremely clean. Teeny bathrooms. The front desk seemed to be helter skelter. Not very professional. The dinning room has in my view an A+++++++++ rating. Superb in every way. Sadly...

It is too bad that the Carlyle has replaced the gleaming silverplate flatware and holloware for stainless steel. Hotels that take shortcuts should not be classified as five stars. To the very end the Waldorf Astoria employed stewards to polish silver flatware and holloware which is the mark of a true luxury hotel. The Algonquin Hotel also has beautiful silverplate...

I recently had my first stay at the Carlyle and it was delightful. I found the public areas to be wonderful. The Bemelman's bar was wonderful. The buffet breakfast, included in our room rate was very good. I would add that this is an old hotel and some updates would be helpful. Overall a good pick on the upper east...

The Carlyle is an amazing property with excellent service The rooms are wonderful and are all unique and always clean. The staff and the service they provide are without parallel. Despite the hotel's legendary history of hosting many celebrities and royalty, every guest is given a warm, genuine welcome and treated like a valued client.

This was my first visit, and will not be my last. In fact, it is now my number one choice for where to stay in NYC. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the room exceptional. Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
