Was put in this hotel when the one we booked closed to house asylum seekers 3 weeks before departure. We originally booked Times Square region having visited twice before so knew the location we wanted. This hotel is directly opposite Maddison square garden and close by Macy’s and Empire State Building. The hotel and foyer is definitely 3*but the room was a 2*at the best. Limited hanging space and drawers for a family of 4. Only 6 coat hangers on a rail hidden with the safe in a small walk in lobby area as you entered room. Only 3 drawers and a bedside cabinet for rest of clothes so ended up living out of a suitcase. (Maybe this is why they provide an iron and ironing board in same small lobby area). The bathroom is small compact but clean, however in hotels generally a fabric shower curtain is unhealthy and out-dated, a bi-folding glass panel would have been cleaner and more practical and not stick to you during your shower. The air con unit had big gaps to the outside and we had to call guest services who came and put a plastic cover over it to block the draft. The window had a dirty blind up to it from the inside and the windows were dirty inside and out, not that we had a view. The bedding and towels were clean which was a big positive and the beds very comfortable after a full day of sight seeing. The only seat in the room was one small plastic chair up to a plastic folding table with a coffee machine on it which didn’t look very clean so was never used. Overall amazing trip but disappointing hotel, however as I said , wasn’t our hotel of choice. Didn’t use any amenities like restaurant or gym as was too busy living and loving the sights of NYC.

So we booked this hotel for 3 nights not sure of what to expect with several bad reviews recently. We were pleasantly surprised on how much we liked it. Staff was nice, easy check in, free wifi, room was surprising large, very comfortable bed, clean room, bathroom was decent with hot water and good pressure. Air con worked. It rained while we were in NYC. The hotel had a laundry room on our floor you can pay to use so we threw in our wet clothes to dry. Also had a pretty decent work out room but we didn't use it. Our room was on the corner so we didn't hear much noise from hallway or other rooms. We did get noise from hearing the fire trucks and sirens next door. Location was great, easy walk to many places for food and drinks, close to subway. Drinks and dinner downstairs at Niles was good. Over all defiantly a good stay and we would stay again.

Stayed for 4 nights in a studio room, The room was quite big for New York. The bed was massive a quite comfortable, The room was clean and tidy however dated. There was some staining on lamp shades that look like red wine and the walls were marked in several places.
It could do with a lick of paint and some TLC.
The bathroom was small and the shower was tiny, I had to get out of the shower to wash my feet otherwise it would be washed off before I could clean them 😂.
Hotel location is a 10 min walk to Time Square and a 5 min walk to 34 street under ground, Penn station is across the road from the hotel. The hotel does have a resort fee of $40 per room per night, Good location just away from the hustle and bustle.

I don’t usually write reviews like this but feel I have to warn anyone who is booking/booked this hotel. We were supposed to be staying in the Row NYC, but got moved because that’s apparently housing homeless/immigrants. Checked in and told to go to a lower level to get the lift because the main lobby wasn’t working, did this with no issue, we were on floor 12. Well….. After a long day of travelling, a long transfer and a poorly child we got into this room, it was awful, I cried, it was dirty, the blinds were stained with dirt, there were bits and dust on the floors, the air conditioner unit in the wall was letting the coldest New York air blow into our room due to massive gaps around it, I had to pack the gaps and wrap the unit with towels to reduce the cold air into the room. There were 4 of us, and the maid would only leave 3 towels, we had to buy our own toilet rolls as they never refreshed them, when we were in one morning and asked for one when the maid came she was suprised by the request and had to go look for some. The carpets were thread bare, and not clean. The first night I tried to look for alternative hotels however due to the time of year would be looking at ridiculous money to book elsewhere, so had to try and keep positive for my kids. This got the holiday off to a bad start, I was gutted as it was the first time for my kids coming to New York and this was their first image of it. Smelly and dirty. Went to complain along with a que of others, but staff on reception had bad attitudes and we had no options to move. Others we spoke to staying in the hotel all had the same comments of the hotel, and we were told that floors 8-14 hadn’t been used for years! Also found out they have immigrants being housed on the lower levels of the hotel, which might explain why paying holiday makers were put into the floors that had been unused for a matter of years! I would NOT recommend staying in this hotel! It ruined our holiday!!

Stayed here for two days while visiting NY at the end of July. Our room was nothing like what was advertised on the hotels site and which we relied upon when making our booking and the room we were actually allocated was not the room we had booked and prepaid for. When we questioned why our contracted room was not given to us, we were given a lot of excuses at reception as to why it was not available including that our room had been damaged and was not usable. Honestly, we feel we were lied to at our check in and were sent to a room that was known to be not what we had booked but they just wanted to get us away from reception. The room we got did not have the two beds we booked. We complained and eventually two portable beds were literally dropped at the room, one was left standing upright for us to sort out when we arrived back at 1 am and we still had to call down for pillows. The gas cooker was not working properly and was leaking gas, we had to call for a porter to come and check it, in my opinion this moved way past hygiene and cleanliness and is a safety issue. Room was shabby, worn, and unhygienic (cutlery had dried food stuck to it from previous guests and there were food remnants in the cutlery tray), paintwork was cracked and worn, no soap in bathroom container and carpets were torn and frayed along the seams. We brought these issues to the attention of the duty manager after our first night and when we returned found that while the room was serviced, the issues (cutlery, soap etc) were not attended to. To add to these issues, the deposit of over 290 Euros has not been returned to us at the time of writing. Overall, I would not return to this hotel in its current state and cannot in good conscience recommend it to any other visitor to New York if hygiene, cleanliness, and safety matter to them. It is a pity because some of the staff we met were helpful and kind, but I suspect are tired and worn out having to deal with agitated visitors who feel let down by systemic failures at the hotel. I have taken photos of the issues I raised here and intend to write a follow up review on this hotel based on the response I get from the hotels management over the next days so please check back in and I will update this piece to help other visitors as to the outcome of my communications with the hotel and how they deal with our experience.

After a full day's travel, we arrived at the hotel at 5.30pm. Incredibly, we could not checkin until 8.45pm! The person on reception stated, because of this, my creditcard would be given a $200 refund. Despite 2 emails to hotel management about this, to which there has been no response, no refund has been made. Concerningly, we were not the only guests whose room was not available until well after 4pm. Our room, when we did finally get to it, was tired and unclean. It was a kitchenette that had 1 knife, 2 forks, no plates and no glasses/tumblers. We had to ask for plates which, when delivered, were made of polystyrene.

I went on a trip with 4 of my friends. We got a studio queen room w/ a sofa bed. The service and lobby were great! I loved the staff. They were so sweet. But the room was disgusting. When we opened the door, and walked in we were so shocked! It didn’t look anything like the photos on the website. The bed looked ok, the sofa bed though… the BATHROOM! That was the tiniest bathroom I’ve ever seen in my life. In order for us to take a shower, we had to put a towel right outside the shower and leave the shower curtain open and turn off the water in order to scrub ourselves down. The sink in the bathroom was clogged most of the time. We had to use the bathroom downstairs to use the bathroom and get ready for nights out. Those bathrooms were actually really nice. The ac in our room didn’t work half the time, and we didn’t feel like calling the front desk so that’s partially our fault. But there were stains everywhere, the fridge did stay cold. The only thing that we liked was there was a lot of space and luckily we brought an air mattress so that we didn’t have to use the sofa bed. We didn’t use the blankets on the actual bed, I had brought my own blanket from home because I knew I was going to get cold on the plane. I will say though that the location was PERFECT to were we wanted to go. It was literally within walking distance to Times Square, a rooftop restaurant we went to, and Korea town. The next time I go to New York, I’m splurging a bit more money for a nicer hotel because it was traumatizing.

Before you lose money and experience the horrible facility we did please read below.
Initially excited about a reasonably priced hotel in a very convenient Manhattan location. Reserved three (3) rooms for 12/3 to 12/5/22. Arrived at hotel around 11:30 am 12/3 to complete registration and drop off luggage. Explained we would return around 4-4:30pm to pick up keys to rooms and prepare for a show at 7pm. Returned around 4:30pm. Multiple couples ( 15+) waiting in lobby for rooms. EVERYONE being told rooms would be available in 30 minutes, including us. At 5:30 we were told the lady we spoke with at 4:30 had not shown us being on the list and again we were told 30 minutes for a room. A couple speaking with another desk clerk stated they had been told 30 minutes every 30 minutes since 3:00pm. At 6:00 pm I finally requested to see the manager. Explained the issue and that we had tickets to a show at 7pm. At about 6:15 we were given keys to 3 rooms. Rooms were were horrible. No bedspreads or blankets; furniture horribly scratched or broken; bathrooms dirty enough that my children refused to use them without towels on the floor and bottom of the tub; gaps around air conditioners allowing December New York winds into the room strong enough to move the privacy blinds; carpet stained and filthy; etc. Please see the Stewart Hotel website to see pictures of the room they claim you will get and then see some actual photos of the room I received.
This hotel was recommended by United Airlines once we had booked our plane reservations. Checked website and because of the Stewart website pictures and United's recommendation we cancelled the hotel reservations we had previously made and changed to the Stewart. HORRIBLE error. They list this hotel as a 4 Star Hotel. Would not list this facility as a 1 Star, much less a 4 Star. In my extensive traveling days I have stayed at Motel Six hotels in small towns that were cleaner and better furnished than the rooms my family and I got.
Over the past ten (10) years or so my family has made multiple trips to New York but have never had an experience this bad. My recommendation is adhere to the old saying " if it sounds too good to be true it probably is". The great location of this hotel is NOT good enough to stay here again. Take this for what it's worth. Spend a few extra bucks, stay elsewhere, so you can enjoy your trip.

Picked this hotel for location to most of the tourist hot spots, the hotel was right out side Maddison Square gardens so it’s very busy and there is a massive construction site which is so loud and doesn’t stop throughout the night, we was upgraded to a bigger room with a balcony but we was settling in the night and all you could hear was Jack hammer noises and beeping all night the rooms are not sound proof from the outside. I contacted reception and was told that the work should stop at 10pm but this didn’t happen so requested a new room away from the front. Was moved to a side room which you could still hear the noises but it was better. Positives - nice staff and good customer services the lobby was really amazing I love style of the 20’s The room was big and the bed was comfortable and the fridge was good to have and the water in the shower was hot which I love and a nice welcome bag was a nice touch. Air on was helpful to drown and it the outside noise. The view was amazing and you couldn’t hear other guests which I liked.
Negatives- carpet needs replacing it’s mucky and the shower needs bleaching it was black which I hate. The room was so hot we couldn’t turn it down because the buttons had been removed so had to call maintenance to sort that out. The lobby smelt of weed which I hate but that was because of a shop near by which was a real shock to see. The rooms are a bit tired in places could do with a paint. You have to put a $200 deposit down for breakables and the resort tax was $40 a night so be aware.
Subway is easy to use and Times Square is a 15 min walk away and Empire State Building is around the corner. There are plenty of coffee shops in the area just be careful around the homeless people at night. We got the train from Newark and then walked 1 min up to the hotel.
Great trip and yes I would stay at this hotel again.

The overall location and space was the only best thing out of our stay. Although the hotel is historic it doesn’t suffice for the unclean/unkept room. Most of the furniture was damaged- but yet your hotel still requires a $300 incident fee. Images sent to management.
The entire glass was missing from the window in the bedroom, which later explained the freezing temperatures in the room. Multiple calls to front desk to remind them of items requested from housekeeping- to still not receive the full request.
I’ve never experienced such a stay as this- will definitely not return.
Despite the service and our experience. Management concluded an $80 facility fee and 4 vouchers would compensate.
Would not recommend to anyone.

Hi we were advised by the hotel that small parcels will be taken in but no more than 1 week before you arrive. name on the parcel needs to match the name on the room and that there may be a $10 charge for each parcel (although i was not charged for my small shoebox size parcel when it was delivered) . the hotel was very accomodating
According to Google is says 19mins with driving. I don't remember the tour bus passing by it.
I am sorry for not answering your question well.
