Perfect situation between Madison av. and Central Park. Very stylish and cozy hotel. Very welcoming staff. Quiet. (Which is very difficult to find in NYC). Everything was perfect. The continental breakfast (included in the price of our room) was a bit poor... Only point to upgrade.

Dear Guest, Thank you for the superb review, and I am delighted to hear you had such a wonderful experience at the Surrey. I am equally happy to hear that you would stay no where else other than the Surrey. I agree that our location offers a more composed alternative to Central Park East, with all the grandeur of Manhattan’s...

Spent one night here with my two daughters (ages 10 & 13). I'd forgotten how great this place is. Stayed in a small king suite thanks to an upgrade. It was wonderful. After all these years, the hotel still looks so fresh. Such beautiful design, and I loved all the heavy doorknobs and bathroom fixtures. The bed was out of...

The Surrey is an outstanding hotel in all senses. From the location, the beautiful property, the great people, to the service they provide; everything is flawless. Concierges are very knowledgeable about the city. Staying at a hotel like this makes the experience in the city even better. The team lead by Troy Pade is exceptional.

Since we have found the Surrey we haven't stayed anywhere else on our frequent trips to the city. Most of our trips keep us busy on the upper east side so this hotel is the perfect fit. Well dressed, professional staff, fresh clean rooms and luxe amenities. A must stay for shoppers, you can walk Madison all day.

Great size room, the ones that overlook the front of the hotel are noisy. The bathroom had a walk in shower which was very powerful and warm. Very clean. The staff were helpful but I was expecting friendlier service based on previous reviews. I would describe them as average. It was definitely a good location for us as we were...

A rare NYC member of Relais & Chateaux exemplifies the best of its traditions of superb personal service and quiet elegance. My suite was comfortable and charming with views towards Central Park so ask for a higher floor if available. Breakfast was outstanding so the restaurant by Boulud will be worth dining in too. On departure I was invited to...

One of the best New York vacations of all time! The hotel and staff were amazing, from day 1 everyone knew my name, I felt like a celebrity! The rooms are to die for, luxurious and roomy with a bed fit for a king! I don't see myself staying anywhere else ever again👌

The Surrey is a breath of fresh air in NYC - staff is friendly and efficient, hotel is exceptional, location can't be beat. This is a lovely, quiet, upper East side retreat, a block from Central Park, easy walking distance from shopping, restaurants, subway. Friday night music by James Zeller Trio is great.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
